A quick poll about the numbers of miles to reserve we are getting on our @s. Mine is pretty pathetic which could point to an underlying problem, so this poll might help be decide how bad a problem I have.

Reserve went on yesterday at 206 miles, filled it up this morning on 232 miles with exactly 20 liters of fuel. Still don't know how much the reserve holds as I have run out of all my fuel previously with only 218 on the clock driving like a maniac![]()
Never hit reservein 3 years!
Doing about 60mpg most runs
Motorway cruising at 85mph + guzzles fuel. I think the carb must open up significantly after about 80mph in top gear.
Best to date is 185miles worst 150miles. Best was fairly average everyday riding worst was nailing it from Campbeltown to Lochgilphead.
Gregger what type of riding, cruising speeds are you doing when bike returns 60 mpg. ?
I did a run into Wales few w/e ago. A and B roads, white roads, gentle really, no thraping it, just normal riding, speeds upto 70mph (ooh how daring). Returning around 60mpg. I certainly dont ride fast. Me brother has one of those funky BMW 650 town bikes, so we dont bomb it.
150m to reserve must be close to 35mph so I can only say that that must be throttle held wide open at 90+mph for that!
I once turned the tank onto reserve at 220m but never have actaully hit it.
The wide open spaces made me do it:![]()
Don't be afraid of reserve. With 60 mpg you'll be able to do another 60 miles on it. I regularly ride 30 miles after switching onto reserve and the bike still only takes 21 or so liters.Originally Posted by Gregger
