    Side stand question

I was lubing my chain at the weekend and noticed that, whilst on the centre stand, the side stand (which was still in the "down" position) had some lateral free play. If I pulled it towards me (not too hard as I didn't want to get squashed) I got about 1/2 cm free play. Quick question - is this normal? I tried tightening up the bolt that the side stand pivots on but it's as tight as it should be.

    Thanks,

    Tony

Mine's the same. If I pull the sidestand towards me (sidestand out, but without the bike leaning on it), a springs seems to pull it back, over about 1 cm play near the bolt of the stand (at the end of the side stand that is about 1.5 inch / 4 cm). I guess it enables the bike to lean over in different angles and/or make the construction stronger when the bike is dropped heavily on the side stand.
Otherwise, if not, you and I may have the same serious problem

Its normal ... can be fixed inserting a thin washer between sidestand and the location bit on the frame.

Excellent - thanks all. Thought this would end up being "normal" but it's nice to get confirmation
