    LED rear light

I never thought the AT's rear light was very good - a bit dim, and only a single bulb, which isn't very reliable.

LEDs are better than bulbs, but I haven't seen anything any good until now - proper LED lights are big panels with lots of LEDs in then, the wee LED things that plug in replace traditional bulbs just aren't bright enough. I have a friend who has one of these, and one normal; bulb, in his ZX6. When he brakes it just looks like one of the bulbs has blown.

Really you need to replace the whole rear light with a big panel full of LEDs to do the job right. This could be the answer:

That looks very nice. Are all the Africa Twin rear taillight ass. the same size? Would this work in a RD03?

It is a lot of money though, but you should not have to buy another.

When I built up the SuperEnduro Transalp... I used the rear light ass. from Baja Designs. This is CA, USA based company who does a lot of Dual Sport kits for bikes not street legal from the factory.

Here's the arse end of my bike (with custom AL rack and BUELL turn signals). The LEDs are very bright... and look pretty smart to boot! :P

    Thanks for that link mate,

    Just cost me £54.

My god..... internet shopping is lethal.

However coming home on the M4 today I pulled over to put the waterproofs on and when I was looking at the back of the bike the light did seem very dim. I thought then I must put additional rear lights on or something so you have saved me the hassle.

I'm using this http://www.mandp.co.uk/productInfo.aspx?catRef=537120 - it's cheap and reliable, and brighter than the original.

Oh no, I feel another M&P rant coming on

Wouldn't there be an (MOT) issue with that bulb not sufficiently illuminating the registration plate? (like that other thing does).

And oh yes, M&P is pants. I always seem to manage ordering stuff that is in both the catalog and the website but actually is- and will never be- in stock. Instead of letting you know straight away and offering to cancel the order (like Amazon or Dabs would do), they just let you wait for 3 weeks and then send you the remainder of your order of the things that they do have in stock. Last time (emphasis on "last") they just send me a bl***y £7.99 spray-can with £10 P&P

Interesting article (though maybe out of date now) that warns that many LEDs are poor quality and are dim - which may explain why my ZX6-riding mate's one is uninspiring.

    http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/led/led.htm

The first LED 1157-style replacement brake/tail lights I've seen that actually perform better than 1157 or 2397 incandescent bulbs. Not all LEDs are created equal!
The Radiantz LED "bulbs" that he recommends may just be the same as these:
    http://www.nippynormans.com/prodinfo...item=2&mitem=2

Note - twin packs are 25% cheaper (per item) so it's worth splitting a pack with someone!

I think the 48 LED clusters are too big for an Africa Twin rear light, but there's a 30 LED version.

I guess it would and this is why I decided to hold on to the original bulb. For MOT, it goes back on the bike, together with the little metal thing which goes into the exhaust to make it quieter.
