    user's guide

    Hi guys!

First of all I am glad I could join the forum

I want to ask for your help: I'm a fresh owner of an Africa Twin RD07, year 1997, and I got it without users's guide.
If some one has it or know the location in internet where can be found, please help me.
Also I do not know how to use the tripmaster.
Right now I want to change the oil and I need the minimum info about the bike.

    Thank's.

Trip meter instructions are mostly gibberish, I just played with mine till I got everything to work. They are posted on this site somewhere though, lifted straight from the manual, so do a search for them and hopefully they'll turn up.

Oil should usually be 10-40 and you need 2.6 litres for a change when you do the filter as well. The book says to change it every 8,000 miles but most do it at 4,000.

Tyre pressures are usually 29/29 psi for solo riding or 29/36 psi for two up work, the higher in the rear.

Spark plugs are NGK DPR8EA9 and you will need four of the things. Gap should be 0.8- 0.9mm

Drive chain play on sidestand with bike in neutral should be 35-40mm at tightest spot
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

P.S. Forgot to mention, I'm in Romania and we have quite a lack of information here regarding bikes (a few dealers, no books,...). I'm glad this forum exists.
