This one of those threads that got resurrected for some random reason. the original post is dated 2005 !!!
2001 Transalp XLV650. Faithful old friend still chugging away nearly 100,00miles
2007 Varadero XLV1000. Now you're torquing but sadly gone to another forum member. One of the best bikes - period.

Mines done a mere 47K and I'm on my second engine (only having done 33K). Still on the original fuel pump, I've replaced head bearings, rims/spokes a bulb, seat cover and hand grips. I've added crash bars.

    They're great aren't they!
When I grow up ..... yeah right!

Y'see, I could say "You can go fast, I can go anywhere, Africa Twin" But you buggers have 'em as well so it would sound pretty lame .... oops!

Yen, great post! very interesting reading. Ive just bought an 94 AT with 22,000kms (14,000 miles approx) and to read your post and to know your bike had a hundred thousand miles more than mine and still going strong at the time, makes me smile! long live the Africa Twin!

22,000km.... Now let's see, that's 2 km per lb plus one for the pot, so that'd be.......... well plenty of mileage left anyway!
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!
