    Bit concerned

Just got a 2003 AT its a great bike no question just fitted TKC 80s alarm Givi tob box, engine bars, screen and been on a 160 mile each way round trip for work my concern is that an indicated 85mph its revving at 6000rpm which seems rather high, can they sustain this rpm for ever or does anyone change the rear sprocket to allow lower revving at speed, ive just sold my 1200GS which was revving at just under 5k at 85 just a bit worried that ill blow the bike to bits am i panicking for nothing please let me know Cheers

Thats about right mate, I spend all day going up the M4 at about 85mph and the speedo shows about the 6k mark.

How did you get on with your GS.... or didn't you.

    Yes that's normal.
The engine is very understressed anyway.

So you've moved from a GS1200 to an AT?
Interesting....... I would have thought most people would be moving the other way.
Was this for financial or other reasons... interested in the other reasons.
    Forum help and advice needed?

You can put a 40 t rear sprocket which will give you 80 mph @ 5,000 - but you do lose a bit in acceleration ... you will need to search the forums for info (cause I'm a lazy so and so with stinking cold )

Thanks for the replys guys that puts my mind at rest, Yes I have gone from the 1200 Gs to an AT
the GS is the nuts does everything well and I did get on with it with only a minimum amount of problems, trouble is ive been working away since Xmas only coming home fro the weekends and looking at the GS in the qarage was making me feel ill in total it owed me about 12K and only did 300 miles in 6 mths
I bought an AT new in 2000 but getting off a blackbird it did nothing for me back then so I sold it, 22 bikes later reminiscing I thought id buy another one so found a mint 2003 tri colour one with only 3K on the clock for 4K so i bought it thinking that firstly it will do most of what the GS does and looking at 4K in the garage wouldn't make me feel so bad so thats my storey im off to wales on it tomorrow hope it goes ok the trip was booked whilst I had the GS with other GSers
    WE WILL SEE !!!!!!!
