    EIBC Aluminium panniers ordered :-)

    Well I have plumped again.

Went and saw Paul Cave yesterday and looked at his setup on his @. I must admit I was impressed with the whole thing. I have opted for two 36ltr side panniers with the SW Motech quick lock system. What swung it for me apart from the price and quality, and the fact that Paul is a top bloke, was the way you can take the whole frame off in 20 seconds.

All it leaves is a couple of very discreet mounting points that unless you know an @ inside out most people wouldn't notice.

Just waiting for them to arrive and Paul said he would fit it all for me as well.

Now I just need to go on an adventure..........

Here you go..... These are of Pauls bike at EIBC.

On the above picture this whole mount and frame can be removed in seconds leaving the bike as it was apart from two small brackets

I should be on a commision now.

Wow that looks very much like the Hepco & Becker panniers which I prefer above the Touratech ones. How much I might ask for the whole setup i.e. frames and panniers?

I find the SW Motech pannier racks brill. so easy to use, and just a few discreet brackets on show when the racks are removed.

Well i had two examples of a great service on Thursday. l was making my way to Pauls on Thursday and disaster struck on the motorway, a rear puncture at 80mph, i managed to coax to bike to the hard shoulder, i phoned the recovery service which is supplied as part and parcel of my insurance policy with Carol Nash, i had the choice of two to phone as i am a member of the AA as well, but i knew the AA would just take the bike back home for me rather than fix the problem. A company called SOS motorcycle recovery turned up, the guy wheeled the bike into the back of the van which is like a mobile workshop, and got us off the motorway into a side road. Once there he whipped off the tyre put a new tube in (and sold me another pair of tubes as well) re-inflated the tyre and i was on my way again. Top marks to SOS recovery

I had warned Paul of the problem and i told him i would ring him back to let him know what was going on. When i phoned him his voicemail was on, he was cutting the grass at the time and i was unaware of this, i left a message saying that i would ring him back in ten minutes. After ten minutes i thought bugger it i'll make my way to his house, which was only about 35miles away, and if he was not in, at least i would know my way to his house when i come to see him on my next visit to have the panniers fitted.

I turned up at his house as it was about to get dark, and i saw him in the front drive. I was going to pay him and come to collect the panniers another time as i did not want to inconvenience him, after all it was my fault that i was late, but i needed them before next Weds as i was going to Norway and the Baltic states on a bike tour, of which Paul was aware.

So after a hearty handshake and greeting he popped up the garage door. He knew of my predicament regarding my travels next week and he had no racks in stock for me, so he whipped the racks of his bike and put them on my @ he lent me his boxes (the one in blues and twos photos) until i get back from my travels which he will replace with new ones when i get back. Bish bash bosh! monkey donkey sorted! three hundred a whatever notes later (i had some other things i bought off of him) the next thing i know i am on my way home with a pair of aluminium boxes sticking out the sides of my bike.

Paul if your reading this your a top banana mate! you won't get service like that from Touratec

Now for the technical stuff, i thought that maybe at this price the set up maybe a bit flimsy, but i was proved wrong. The boxes are robust, very quick and was very easy to take on and off, and so are the racks. I think you could have the boxes and racks off in less than five minutes. The whole setup is extremely secure, and i never really noticed any difference to the ride on the bike once they were fitted, i am a really happy bunny another little plus pint is that Paul lives at the end of a little lane somewhere in the sticks, the last couple of hundred metres of the lane to his house is an unmade road, so you paractise your off road skills on the way there and back

Kiroh, i don't know if i will able to show you them before i go away as i still am making last minute preparations, but i'll be back in three to four weeks if you wanna wait that long

    A very happy London Bubble

I was wondering for those of you that have bought these cases from Paul, does having them on restrict the space for the pillion, as to get my wife on the bike it will have to be very comfortable.
