Need new "race" exhaust, BUT, I have Touratech rac

    Hi guys / gals

Im looking to change my exhaust as the stock is gettng tatty and weighs more than my girlfriend.

I was looking at the Remus Revolution with removable baffle, but I hear that they sit higher up than the OE exhaust so arnt compatible with the Touratech rack I have.

Can anyone recommend a good exhaust & link pipe that will fit with TT Racks on and also have a removable baffle.

    Cheers in advance, Edd

    Hello mate,

I have just spent the afternnon having my ali panniers fitted at Paul Cave's place. I believe he had the Touratech system fitted on his bike previously and he has a Remus exhaust fitted also. The only mod he made was cutting the rear indicators down to fit inside the Touratech boxes.

Give paul a ring to find out more.

He may be able to help out more.

    Regards

Arrow exhausts. If you do a search (above) you should find pictures of mine. I've just refitted it with my Touratech racks and there's plenty of room.

Try Lazer. mine has been on three bikes, it is over nine years old, and is taken off the bike for a polish once a year. also it fits under the SWmotech pannier racks, plus its stainless

    Speaking of Touratech racks

Touratech seem to sell their rack/ZEGA system in two forms - 'pre-assembled' or not - with a significant price difference. What's the difference? If I bought non-assembled racks would I be expected to weld them together or something?!

The difference between the premounted and the standard version is that on the premounted kind the panniers are drilled, and the mountingkit is installed. On standard you do the drilling and mounting on your own.

Ah, okay. Is it easy to do? Presumably such drilling exposes bare metal, so do you have to do any painting or protective treatment before assembling? On reflection, £40 isn't much of a saving if it's a fiddly job.

    Complete or not complete

As far as Touratech Zega Panniers are concerned, it is down to 4 plastic mounting lugs that sit one the outside of the box that is used to mount them to the frames.

to mount each one takes 4 M6 self tapping bolts, however you have to mark out and drill each hole for them, that is 16 holes per box then you have to add 2 M10 mounting 'cam' holes that have to be drilled. all of which takes time and you cannot make a mistake.

So if TT are offering complete boxes and rails for only £40 per box more than a 'separates' system, it's not a bad deal. However it depends on the cost you are starting from and how flexible that solution is.

Okay I am very biased for obvious reasons, why spend £600 when you could spend £400 for a more flexible solution.

Well I'm just looking around at the moment. I have seen the thread(s) about your outfits and I these do look nice. I started out looknig at Metal Mule (£800+) and have now worked my way down via Touratech (£500+) to your EIBC system (£400-)!
