    dodgy pads

After fitting my centre stand and finally managing to get the bike up on the thing I noticed my rear brake pads had broken up.

The friction material had completely come away from the backing plate.

The pads are made by ebc, so be aware if you have them fitted.

I am now going to contact ebc and see what they have to say!

    cheers

I've had this happen with Carbon Lorraine and an unknown make of pads (possibly Triumph OE)

With the Triumph, the first I knew was a hideous grinding sound coming from the back brake. Still, at least it was the back... The carbon lorraine pads that did this on the front at least didn't fail in use, the pads fell apart when removing the front wheel.

Scary thing is others have reported it - it's not that rare!

I had this happen on a previous bike. I didn't discover it until i was in getting new tyres and when the guy took the caliper off the pad fell onto the ground in a pile of bits! As i still had to get home and it was 5:25 pm i thought i was completely screwed. Fortunatly the guy, Harry's Tyres Belfast, did all he could and mangaed to source new pads and fit them for me even at that time of the day when they close at 5:30pm!

Hmm, me too. See http://www.xrv.org.uk/phpBB2/viewtop...&highlight=ebc. I won't buy 'em again....

well I emailed ebc and they have asked me to send the pads in to them so they can check them out.

They have offered to replace them free of charge but I don't think I will be fitting them.

I have ordered a set of genuine honda pads which cost £18 + VAT from David Silver - worth the extra dosh in my opinion

What really bugs me though is that my AT only has 10K on the clock so why were the pads in there not the original factory ones??

Begining to think that my bike has done more miles than what reads on the speedo......gutted!
