Has anyone out there fitted an Ohlins rear shock on the AT?
I am halfway trough fitting my new one, and need to know which side the external reservoir and the pre-load adjuster go.
Thanks

The o/e Showa remote resovoir is located next to the rear brake resovoir behind the right hand side panel i don't know if that is any help.
Hi, do you have any pic's and dimension's of the remote preload adjuster?
I could REALLY use something like that on my T/A as the adjuster is rather unaccesible!!!
Obviously suspension mfr's are not too keen giving out such info for the home mechanic to bodge onto a standard shock!

Kiroh, I have PM'ed you the e-mail adress of a guy who has one fitted. He will be able to send you a pic.Originally Posted by kiroh

The rear shock is fitted now. 2 hour jobbie, not too complicated if you have the right tools.
I took some picutres and spent the last hour trying to re-size them under 50k. I wish the limit was increased to at least 150k. Dave?

I see you've gone for the pre-load adjuster on the right hand side of the bike. Does the shock come with a mount? Did you have to fabricate a mount for that position? How did you fix the adjuster to the bike frame? More (little) photos would be good?
So how does the Ohlins feel? Quite an improvement I suppose?
Does the Ohlins give you the option to set the rear a bit higher, I always feel the RD07 sits a bit deep compared to my old RD03 for example.
It looks like you're reducing the physical size of the image to get it under 50K which isn't the right thing to do.Originally Posted by kiroh
It's a compromise between jpg compression and the physical size.
If you mail me the originals to admin@xrv.org.uk I'll sort them out for you.

Yes it does and it fits perfectly to the top bolt of the rear brake piston. I was worried that it will be on the way of my right foot, but it's not even touching it.Originally Posted by iswoolley
Originaly I was thinking of fitting it under the left hand side rear fairing, but that would be too impractical, if I had to change the pre-load with the side paniers on.
Feels better, but it still too early to say. I'm yet to play with all the settings and find the best one for my weight and riding style. A good shock is going to make a difference in extreme conditions - going off-road for a day or riding with pillion/overloaded and I haven't tested it this way yet.Originally Posted by robelst
Haven't looked into changing the hight of the Ohlins. With the new shock the hight is the same, if not slightly higher. Will have to check the manual for that one.
Watch this space for more reports. I'll try posting the settings I came up with.
