Choose the oil weight according to the damping characteristics you want. Don't put thicker oil in an attempt to stop fork seals leaking. If the seals are shot, it's true that 10w will leak out slower than 5w but it will still leak out and the seals will still need replacing.

Ok
All went well . Got both oil seals and dust seals in - biggest problem was getting that barstuard guide bushes into their locations. Didn't like hammering at them so I took the gap out of them by hand squeezing them until there were closed and tapped em in very gently with a hammer and flat head. All in all seam to be good.
Have to say thinking about it should have bought the more expensive seals any way rebuild under way.
Also replaced the points in the fuel pump seams like the most economical option given the price of a new pump.

lil tip when you undo the top of the forks undo the fork retaining bolt at the bottom too and do remember to take the oil out first, then just let the fork assembly (with a little help from you)pop the seal out.
To repeat what already been said on here be very careful putting the new seals in, useing a pipe with the right diameter makes it a doddle.
Have fun Paul
