    Stupid Question Time !

    New to the AT scene but need some help. I've just purchased a 2002 Africa Twin, Black and gold in colour with 5000 miles on the clock. My questions are:

    1. What are the best mods for the bike without going overboard ?
    (crash bars, exhaust etc and where to get them from)

    2. Any 'problems' with the AT I need to be aware of ?

    3. What does RD 04, RD 07 and RD 07A etc mean ? And what would
    mine be ?

    I would appreciate any assistance and advise you may have to offer.

    1.chrashbars are a good investment, saves your bodywork in a fall. And a good screen would help. A better or changed seat will do you good.If you want to try it offroad a different tyre will be a good idea.

    2.Fuelpumps can die on Twins. You got a 2002 model so shouldn't be a problem. Further its a good bike with little problems.If you want to know about the fuelpump do a search on the forum, there are a number of topics about it.

    3.RD03/RD04/RD07/RD07A are the different models. You can find it on your modelplate on your frame. You have a RD07A. When ordering stuff it good to know which model you have.

    Few ideas

    Common and good upgrades are K&N filter and a free flowing exhaust. Remus do an exhaust called the Revolution for the AT. It has removable baffle for MOT time. PLus it saves about 9 tons in comparison to the standard lol.

    Crash bars are a good Idea and add to the rugged look of the AT. You can pretty much get them anywhere with a little research.

    Tyres suiting your riding style are a good investment (check threads on here for reviews)

    If it isn't fitted, a centre stand helps allot with maintainance and safe parking if you have luggage fitted too.

    A comfortable seat is a good idea too. The standard one is good for 200 mile journeys, but if you plan on a long tour it will get painful. Gel / air covers are good and Touratech do a replacement but its pricy at £260+.

    Allot of people fit scott oilers too. If your doing some big mileage then its recommend. If you only commute and can remember to oil your chain regularly, i think they're more fuss than there worth. Pain in the arse to set up and gets oil everywhere

    Braided lines and good brake pads are good too. Carbone Lorrains are sweet and goodridge stainless hoses do a world of good.

    All I think of now...i better get back to work...my supervisors snarling lol
