    Shopping list...

Right, I need to tap the fountain of knowledge that is xrv.org.uk.

    CrashBars:-
Motad have no more left. They are not intending to produce any more either. They gave me the number of a company called B & C, who also have sold their stock and donot intend to hold any more.
I have been looking at the SW-Motec Bars, but these seem a little high and donot cover the lower engine.

    Handlebars:-
What is the general consensus on a good set of bars?

    Hand gaurds:-
Acerbis Hand guards seem to be the weapons of choice but I seem to remember you need the guards and spoilers too. can anyone confirm ?

    Screen:-
Thinking of getting another Powerbronze flip screen, unless anyone can recommend anything different.

    Handlebars...
Go for the Renthal enduro high or Dakar ones.
They come in many colours and you will save a lot of weight since the original has handlebar eights inside and with the renthal you dont need any.

    Handguards...
You cant go wrong with the Acerbis items.

    crash bars...
If you dont mind the extra cost, I think Touratech makes the best ones for the @

I agree with Zorba about the handlebars. I got a set of Renthal Enduro High - made a big difference from my standard ones (but they had an inch chopped off 'either end of em).

As for the screen, I have a Powerbronze flip but have just put the standard screen back on as I prefer it. I found the flip screen gets in the way.

When I was looking for some I rang Motad and they said they had stopped making them as there just wasn't the demand.

I have SW-Motech bars and have crash tested them. They saved all the plastic and the engine. The bash plate got scrathed but I can live with that. They did the job in my spill, were easy to fit (spookily the day before my off) and seem good quality. I need to touch up where they grounded but apart from that they didn't seem to bend out of shape.

I too crash tested Motech bars but without falling off, when a car changed lanes into the side of my bike as I went past. My bike was undamaged, but the car lost it's entire front wing which peeled back like a piece of tissue paper. Also the easiest crash bars to fit in the world.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

Hurrah for Yen, nice to get one back now and again, I took a taxi's mirror off with my knee once in Manchester and completely "bannana'd" a car (aim for the side pillar) also in Manchester, but that was a long time ago now.

    Re: Shopping list...

Can't speak for the rest but I inherited Blues n Twos bike with a big Nuovo screen, which I have just replaced with standard that I much prefer. If you'd like to try it you're welcome to borrow it - I'm in North London, Finchley in fact! PM me for my address if you're interested!

    Cheers
