    Advice for a Newbie please

Ok, so I ended up with a 1992 AT XRV750-M (that's just before they reduced the seat height so the wife can't borrow it). It has a centre stand, touring Scottoiler and Givi topbox. I've knocked out a wall and widened the path plus stuck a secure bolt into 15 inches of concrete. I've bought the latest Ride recommended Squire lock. I think I'm happy (got 110mph out of it one the way home from the dealer the other day without screaming it). And it makes me smile just getting on.
    1. I want a cover - anyone know a good waterproof but breathable cover that will fit this beast of a bike?
    2. Is there a list of basic maintenance checks I should be doing weekly/monthly etc to keep the bike in good order?
    Cheers

Hmmmm, South East London eh, a good daily safety check would be to make sure you have still got both wheels on it before pushing it off the centre stand.

But seriously, Each morning I check oil level and tyre pressures. I look at the water level about once very 2 years when I suddenly remember it's watercooled.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

At least one wheel is padlocked to the Groundhog concreted-in bolt. But things are pretty quiet round here. After the international appeal for aid to help New Orleans, the local council chartered two planes and sent out volunteers to help with the looting. We're hoping some of them may have been shot.

    Congradulations on your purchase.

I bought a cover from Argos £15 I think. and used a bungee from Wilkinsons to extend the securing strap underneath.

If you want to spend £30 you can get the waterproof cacoon things that you zip your bike into and then plug in a small de-humidifier.

I used my argos cover for 6 months last year, and also use it when I go out with the bike (you can put the cover over the bike, and put yoru gloves, helmet and jacket underneath to take advantage of the engine heat to dry them if they get wet!!!.

The argos cover has 2 vents at the top, that conveniently are located by the mirrors.

also comes with a neat bag to stuff it in when you want to store the bag.

I've got one of Oxford's cheap lightweight covers (large size) and use a bungee to take up the slack. It's not 100% waterproof but does the job well enough. It's lightweight enough to take to work and cover the bike there.

Check in the Tech Data section. I did some service schedules for folk to print out.

I looked at the data, cheers. I was wondering about more frequent checks. The water idea is a good one. I'm not even sure where to look so I'll have to nose about a bit.
Is the Haynes manual for the @ any good? Is it worth the money?

Great, another RD04, the best they ever built! Welcome!

You can check the water level by just looking underneath the rear fairing, at the righthand side. Riding face forward that is...

    Enjoy!!

PS: There might just be a digital version of the Haynes lingering around somewhere.... But I don't have the link here. My guess is Tikka will come and post the link soon...

    Cheers,

Another vote for Argos. I have used one of theirs for two years now and it can even take a hot Laser exhaust without melting.

It's bit of a pain with a large top box though (seeing that you have one). It just about fits but is very tight then.
