That's interesting, my 750 AT temp' gauge needle only moves about an eighth of an inch off the resting position, can I get a warmer opening thermostat?

My AT sits on the cold markmost of the year but when it's offroad the fan will cut in a lot. It's just doing it's job replacing the airflow you're no longer creating when you go faster. I find it comforting to know the fan still works as I don't hear it much the rest of the time.

2000 XRV750 (NO 3), I think I'm getting the hang of them now, must fit the centrestand before the back tyre wears out. Damn, the driveshaft bearing wore out first!

I don't mind the fan coming on, off roading in England but I'm going to Morocco for a month on it, and hopefully staying of the tarmac as much as possible, thats why it would be nice to run it a bit cooler.

put a manual switch on it then you can turn it on and off at will just like the old gpz900 they used to cook in traffic and pour nice hot coolent everywhere

Surely, if the fan is coming on there is no problem....

I doubt the big H would have the stat and fan switch, set so high as to damage the motor.

Look at it this way, in the Uk a bike fan rarely cuts in, so seems almost alarming when it does, I'm sure city travellers in much hotter countrys don't batter an eyelid when the fan's on nearly all the time!

Also I doubt a different stat would make a difference as it'll be wide open at say 90*, fan might not cutin till over 100* so stat is wideopen anyway.

If it bugs you fit a manual switch as mentioned.

My XRV650 trips the fan a lot. Temps here in WA state USA during the summer can reach 90 degrees (F). That makes the fan trip on whenever I'm at a stop for just a couple minutes. Both the TAs I've owned have been the same way. I wouldn't worry about it. Just be sure the coolant is fresh and at the correct level... and have a good trip.

My fan doesn't work anymore... still have to check that one day...

My temp gauge does go to almost the red zone in heavy city traffic, but with autumn on its way I won't need the fan till next summer I guess..
