    wiring off the ignition

what is the easiest/best place to wire from when installing something that must only draw power when the ignition is on?

My heated grips and kliktronic are wired into the lights that way you never forget to put them on One is wired in at the lights themselves the other at the fuse box.

Actually I'm just wiring at Starcom kit but I've got the bluetooth option and so cannot wire straight off the battery. The starcom chap suggested the rear light's main power cable, but I'm turning the wiring diagram upside down trying to work out which of the three wires is live. There's brown, green with stripes.

Brown is normally ground, so try the other two. One of them should be the tail light, and other brake light.

I remember reading from somewhere in this site that there is an unused 12V feed at fusebox with ignition on. Shouldn't be too difficult to find it using multimeter.

As 12 inch, I have my heated grips wired (or actually the trigger for a relay) from the front parking lights.

Looked like I'd worked it out from the wiring diagram but to check I took the rear bulb out and using two bits of wire, one to the battery earth, the other to the wire in question, double checked.
All fitted and working beautifully now but not enough juice in the battery after all my mucking about to start. I have the battery on charge now but it looks like it needs a little top up with fluid anyway as it's only just above the minimum line.
    Another job for another day.
