    ass on fire

well today was not a good day..
i sent the bike in yesterday to fix the tacho meter<sp> they fixed it.. said it was a wiring fault.. so that was sorted.. today on my way to work smoke started coming out from under my seat... i paniced.. before i could switch off the ignition the bike went off.. so i turned the key off and pushed the bike aside... was scared ****less cos i had forgotten my tools. so i asked around and got some removed the sides and the seat.. looked around and didnt see anything... got the mech to check it out.. he said my rectifier was blown... now is that possible? what can cause the rectifier to blow?

The rectifier is a common problem with africas. I had mine blown last year and I have a 93 model.
Remove the left side cover and you will probably be able to find it.
It is the black box with cooler fins.
Follow the cables and you will probably find them to be corroded or melted.
