A bunch of mates from the VFR Club are meeting at the cafe/services in Crossgates (near Llandrindod Wells) at 12:30 pm on Monday for coffee and a burger or bun. If weather - and hubris - permits, we might go for a short run en masse in the early afternoon.

SOUTH WALES MEMBERS: Meet at the first main lay-by (the one with a burger van) at Llwyn-on Reservoir (map here (http://uk.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=300000&Y=212500&width=700&height=400&gride=304268.622156862&gridn=228384.609681348&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=freegaz&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=true&zm=0&scale=50000&multimap.x=422&multimap.y=243)) before 11:00 ready to roll at 11:15.

SHROPSHIRE: Two are meeting at McDonald's just off the A518 as you come into Telford by 10:30. (Notice anything in common about these meeting points?)

COTSWOLDS/WORCESTER: Meet at 11:00 in the lay-by just after Crown East by garden centre, a mile past where the A44 leaves Worcester after the last roundabout on the ring road. (Dunno where they'll get burgers from.)

NORTHERN POSSE: Pick up Kneedown in Newtown at 11:45.

That's Snagger after riding on ice and through a snow blizzard with no rear brake for over an hour.

For once I wasn't me putting the bike down.

Weather looking good for tomorrow. Fine, dry, little or no breeze, and even the temps mild! So, anyone joining us?

Good to meet you today, Pete. I hope you don't think I abandoned you, but you and the other guys seemed to have a solution to the rear light problem and I had an appointment to make. I trust you had a good day.

Dave , no problem, I managed to change the bulb in Merthyr; however it blew again on the way home; looks as though I may have an earth snag. Looks as though I'm in for a spot of fun with the wiring.

Thanks for the day; nice bunch of blokes.

OK, glad you got back afely. Not sure about an earthing problem, though. If it were on the live side you'd lose the fuse not the bulb, and if it were on the earthed side it would have no effect. The bulb must be getting too many volts, which to me indicates either Reg/Rec or possibly a weak battery. I'm no expert though.

Hi Dave,
Electrics not my strong suite; the reg sounds expensive, not sure how the battery come into the equation, anyone out there know anything about the black electrical arts?

Anything more than a blown fuse is going to test my lack of electrical expertise big style.

The battery can act as a "reservoir" when the alternator is generating highish voltage - like when you're doing 70 + on the Brecon By-pass! If it's weak it won't absorb much current and the voltage can increase. However, the Reg/Rec should prevent this anyway... it's just a thought but I'm no expert either.

Measure the voltage across the battery terminals with the engine running at medium rpm and the lights on. You shouldn't get much over 14 volts. If its more than that the regulator looks suspect. Digital multimeters are best.

Rolo, thanks mate, will give that a bash, let you know how it turns out.
