DaveS uses a boxit for his phone that looks quite good (how did you mount it to your bars dave?) but im looking for some sort of weather proof holder for the ipod as well.

Boxit do a bicycle mount for it, which fits the handlebars perfectly.

Chad,
Take a look at RAM Mounts here  http://www.gpsw.co.uk/
I've just received the aqua box and handlebar mount to stick my PDA in.
A tad pricey but seriously good quality and fit and forget type peace of mind.
More info here http://www.ram-mount-uk.com/index.htm
thanks guys :D
dave did you get the mount from the same place as the link you gave me?
carport , thats great they do a good solution for the ipod i'll ave to come up with a weatherproofing solution and its not badly priced either :D

No I shopped around and found the Boxit bicycle mount at a Chandlers of all places!
http://makeashorterlink.com/?B2982327C
I then got the Boxit from Mobile Fun which was cheaper.
I had to make a hole in the lower left hand side of the case for the lead to plug in to the accessory plug, but it all works fine for me and has been used fine in torrential downpours.

Chad, the aquabox is waterproof and one of the two will fit an ipod.

Carport.
How does the Aquapac and the Ram mount go together?
Does the Aquapac go over the Ram mount and the PDA. Just over the PDA which still fits in to the RAM Mount, or is there a RAM Mount that holds the AquaPac.

Just did this but Mobile Fun have since emailed to say they're out of stock - but at less than half the price of the Chandlers I'll wait.
I keep my MP3 player (an iRiver, not an iPod) in the tank bag but may look at an easier access mount too.

The boxit's are really very very good they come highly recommended from me.

If you want to get both box and bracket from the same company try:
http://www.psalmgear.co.uk/acatalog/Boxit_Mobile_Phone_Case.html
It might be slightly more expensive. You'll have to work out the total cost including VAT and postage - I'm too lazy to do it for ya!

The aquabox is a waterproof box with a clear rubber front
http://www.ram-mount-uk.com/ram-hol-aq2.htm
, it needs the round ram mount with 1" ball
http://www.ram-mount-uk.com/ram-b-202.htm
which fits to the box with the attached screws.
The 1" ball then fits any ram mount you like. I went for the 3" handlebar mount with u-bolt.

Simple and very effective.
Ahh I see. There also an Aquapack and I was getting mixed up.
There site is so crap though I searched on Aqua Box and it retuns nothing.
Do you know if they do a bigger (taller) box my PDA will have the GPS sticking out of the top. I've spent 5 fruitless minutes looking!
Just spoken to the bloke at RAM uk and they don't currently do a large box.
I have a Dell Axim with a CF GPS card sticking out of the top, and therefore I need a box that is 19cm high x 9cm wide.
I'll keep looking anyway until then my sandwich bag will have to suffice.

Ain't it just terrible when you can't find a protective cover that's big enough. :D Not that I mean to brag, or anything...

Now that is seriously busy front end!
he's a very busy dude :teeth: daves @ was carrying so much weight over the fron he had to beef up the springs
Either that or he just sits in a warm garage wearing aviators and whistling music from Top-Gun.?!?

Port-charge.co.uk seem to be the only place claiming to stock the handebar clamp. Dunno if they actually have them in stock as I was told Boxit stopped making them a year ago.

i started down this route then stopped as i found a sat nav with bluetooth that allows me to leave the phones in my pocket, and ring and pick them up using the touch screen on the sat nav. it also does up to 4MB of music in MP3 format.
i have done a few downpours in the last couple of weeks and all has worked well and i only have one unit to mount.
i will take a couple of pics. the sat nav is a MIO unit that came with a bar mount.

heres the boxit mount 7.99 including postage
got mine before xmas and smooth transaction, they also do the case for 17.99
I just use a dinky little magentic tank bag from Heine Gericke. I have the leads from the autocom coming out under the seat by the tank and plug one into my phone and one into my (cheap) MP3 player. I can switch the MP3 player on/off through the window on the tank bag but any other level of control is not really an option. As my phone is the clam type I only receive incoming calls. When off the bike I just unplug them both, leave the leads dangling and put the bag either in my pocket or in the top box.
Simple, cheap, versatile, and transferable. The tank bag is waterproof enough for light rain but I have a couple of aquapacks in case it pisses down - but as long as I am moving the tank bag doesn't get wet anyway.
