Luckilly not else my weight problem would of been worse  I will however give her a description of you and if you ever find yourself in a Carluccios be sure to check your food
Look we're all mates here Dirk. If you're on a 'promise' we understand......
I promise nothing to avoid dissapointment later :D Now let's see spending an evening with my smelly odd looking crazy AT tea drinking biker buddies or having an evening out with my beautifull wife - no contest

I am free tomorrow or Sunday though :lol:Look we're all mates here Dirk. If you're on a 'promise' we understand......

So we can publish this on the site as a regular meetup/rideout we'll need to know the following:
Where do you want it?
When
A meet or ride or both
Any extra details or a contact username for more information
I'm up for this! Let me have a think about venue. Of course it depends on where everyone is coming in from!

Howzabout the Ace Cafe (north circ') ? followed by a burn up some place,or the the other way round with something to eat afterwards. There are also loads of good early Sunday morning cafe's in the West End.Breaky uptown followed by a run into the country for example.

Count me in. Those south of the river may want to consider a day ride out to Brighton (via the back roads of course).
Bright on sounds good - so does the ace or simialr...
Of course there should also be scope for a quick soical one evening in the week too - just for a chance to chew the fat and show people what proper bikes look like! :D
Don't forget the meet at Fleet service last Sunday in Feb! Also isn't there some bike ride out in Hastings around Maytime - Anyone know anything about that?
Richie B
28-01-06, 01:04 PM
I think Mr McVicar was talking about a Dartmoor camping trip in May. The thread should be in the Rideout section.

It's here http://www.xrv.org.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2365
Chad & Sean were discussing it, I believe. We're meting at Locksbottom (in Kent)& then riding down 'mob handed'
The Ace Cafe is the wrong side of London for me, but I like Richie B's idea of a bimble down to Brighton.
i like the sound of a lets say once a month meet in the evening somewhere at a suitable location for us bad ass bikers
i say cup of earl grey anyone :?:

I haven't been to the ACE caf in ages and there is of course Wessons cafe as well down in Kent. As long as it's not on a Thursday evening I don't really mind when 8)
wessons cafe sounds like a good venue :D
Von Short Hausen
29-01-06, 04:37 PM
Wessons is great for me, as it's fairly close. I don't reckon I'll be able to make weeknights though as I'm either working late or sleeping due to being on earlies. :sleepy2:
But I'm up for meets in the daytime during weekdays or at the weekend when my shifts allow.
comon guys lets get our **** together the northeners seem to be on the ball with there meets :P
We have...
There is the Fleet services one in Feb already in the bag...
Right! Apart from the obvious type Biker meets what about any central London pubs off the beaten track a bit - i.e not on a main road so easier to park up - that could accomadate us? If it's central people could get in with less traffic and of course anyone working in town and not on the bike could hang around and join in too.
Any ideas? I know a couple around Chelsea Kensington (or at least I did) but not sure if that is ideal for our friends in the East...

I'm up for any location at the weekend,Fleet is a definate for me,so if nothing else is sorted by then maybe everybody should at least make an effort to make it the first meet of 2006.If anyone is crossing central London on route to fleet we could hook up on the way?

Fleet ... I work in Fleet ... when is this meet planned ? its only 40 miles fromhome, and now the AT is back, I need an excuse to get out of the house
J, have a look at this thread (http://www.xrv.org.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3092&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0)
Have most of us decided to pop along to the feet meet and talk about further London meets then? What about midweek?

Right chaps & ladies.. We now have a Calendar (http://www.xrv.org.uk/event_manager/events.php) for you to put your meetup/rideout dates into or any other event you'd like to put in there (including Birthdays :-)).. It's there for you guys to advertise and organise your trips/meetups/rideouts so go ahead, don't be shy and use it..
Hi
Anyone fancy another meet at Chelsea Bridge again. Would suggest a Friday but I'm open to other nights and locations...
Blackheath has a cafe for you Eastenders - I know its south of the river so as long as none of you are cabbies you should be okay with it!!!
Maverick mentioned this again however anyone want to meet up at Chelsea Bridge again soon? Anyone got any ideas of dates?
The last one was a good laugh and with luck with more light and better weather
Would it be better to start a new thread...

Well I'm hoping to make a Chelsea Bridge Meet sometime, but I'm always working 2 out of any 3 Fridays....so it's a question of timing.
Hi all
If you decide to organise a meet during the week, I know both Cie and myself are interested in popping up from Salisbury area.
I'll run up there one Wed / Thursday to see if the tea cabin os open. And see if there's any biking activity.
We could meet up and then do the tourist thing and have a sort of night time siteseeing trip!!!

Where do you's all meet at Chelsea Bridge? I assume it's not on the pavement in the middle.Aha, found the post with the pics....BUT, one bloke says south of the bridge by the tea hut, another gives a map with an arrow pointing to the north of the bridge. This is very important, if I turn the wrong way I'll raise my mileage too much and lower the value of my bike. I'm not taking another 50 pence of for anyone!

Ooooh goody, that's a day I'm NOT working...I could do Friday 7th April
I could do Friday too...And its the south side of the water as there is more space. Last time we were on the pavement by the park entrance, however most of the other bikes there seem to park along the wall on the other side of the wall.
We met up last time at about 8. Shall I put something in the calender to that affect?
We could look to do a mid week one after that for people who miss out!
fri the 7th is ok hey vader come up after work we'll wait for him wont we guys then have a little ride out or summin :D
The last one ended quite late and as it gets later the traffic gets lighter and at some point you end up with nice empty roads in areas where most of time you need eyes in your elbows to see the buggers trying to kill you!
And the teas not bad either - and if you ever wonder where all the Cabs are at night time - Thats where they'll be!
So if you can make it after your shift come along!

It seems all systems go.
If somebody could post a post code or something like it so i can have a look in wich general direction i would have to go from oxted.
No use to tell me whatever bridge, since i don't know london( arrived from the outer galaxys in 2000, your time keeping)

What time are you setting out, O Dark One ? Do you still have to wait until your mighty work is complete ?
Only my Little Green Tie fighter has Global Positioning System....it's not much, but it works on this puny planet. :alien:
To help I imagine you will come into London from the south - possibly A23 or A24. You'll come to Clapham Common and basically Chelsea Bridge is at the top Queenstown Road. Hope that helps!
Lord Vader
29-03-06, 08:12 AM
I will be finishing work at 9pm and yes i come down the A23.Will have to dig out my old london tourist map and have a look i think
Or.....
Use Google maps or the AA Route planner to get directions from your location and off you go!

30-03-06, 07:26 PM
Might now be able to get out of work earlyer
Hoping to finish around 6 so should make it in good time.

Luckily for me it's next to the Thames. The only way I can navigate in London, is to go along the embankment then turn left or right depending what I'm heading for. Anything more complicated than that and it's ride in circles time......

How about we try to make the Chelsea meet a general Dual Sport/Traile/Adventure bike gathering?
Dirty bikes on the left, shiny crotch-rockets on the right . . . :)

My bike is still undergoing some surgery at the moment - i havnt ridden it for weeks. I'm gagging to get out on it.
I'd be up for meeting at Chelsea bridge one month - is there an arrival time - eg 7pm onwards? What time do you stay until?
I think i know where it is, as my son had his heart surgery at the Royal Brompton Hospital which is close to there. But I dont know where you actually meet on the bridge ? :?
Ant.
dont worry dude you can meet up with me and cruise in :D
So are we saying 1st Friday of the month or a midweek meet?
It will be great to get more people to this one. The weather will be better and its well worth run in to Central London - with the roads quiet its an ideal time to see London too ANd those of us who live near it can take it for granted.,,
So come on suggest your dates
first Friday in the month for example
That's as good as any for me.
Friday 5 May
Friday 2 June
Friday 7 July
Friday 4 August
Friday 1 September
Shall we put them in the diary?
Sounds like a plan to me!
Nice one, then when we get a few people from this mob, we can put it about on other forums as MacP suggested, then we can have an "Adventure Bike" gathering to match thos silly little sports bikes :)

I'll certainly come up occasionally, but I don't plan to make it a monthly event myself.
It's good to meet up, and Chelsea's a cool place to do it, but there are other places I'd rather ride for fun!

A possible one for the summer (lighter evenings) is at Great Bentley Green near Clacton, Essex.
Its usually every wednesday evening - ive only been once but there were a good couple of hundred bikes there. (all sorts - power rangers, choppers and ADV riders). Theres a pub and food. Just a thought if any of you guys hav'nt been and fancy somewhere different to ride to (although its a pain as its mid week if youve got to work early next day).
This is exactly the sort of thing we should be after! A nice variety of location Top idea! :D

TfL, the MPS, Kensington & Chelsea Borough and the local residents association is having a meeting as I type to discuss this bike meeting. Apparently the local residents feel that this has become a nuisance and want to force the MPS to shut this meeting down because of safety fears. Apparently some people has been hurt in the past and they're complaing about motorcycles wheeling and being noisy. Will keep you posted...

You only had to look at the brand new expensive looking developments overlooking the site to see the bell tolling on that meet. Must admit I didnt like the London traffic on the way in - bloody scooters and crazy car drivers :? You guys who have to do it regularly must have nerves of steel or just be immune to it?
Shame about the show boats who WILL end up getting this meet closed down. Guess we'll just have to find some other meeting points?

When is the next one ? I think I need to come along !
Nice one, then when we get a few people from this mob, we can put it about on other forums as MacP suggested, then we can have an "Adventure Bike" gathering to match thos silly little sports bikes :)
OK, we're a bit near to the beginning of June to get the word out, but how about trying to get a bigger crowd of muddy bikes for 2 July?
Okay 1st Friday in June...
Bring your riot gear???

The Wife has given me permission. Lets hop ethe weather is good to us... dont fancy a wet ride out.
I'll try and either work from home, or work from Vodafone in Newbury ... That way I can get home and get ready.
A good excuse to bed in the new chain and sprockets plus try out the New GPS.
Yeah I know you are mate, but it seems utter madness for 3 of us, that live in Hampshire, to go to Boxhil to meet..
Why don't we do something local
Whealie
18-08-06, 01:21 PM
Are you guys meeting tonight? At Fleet, or even in Portsmouth?
I'm just heading out to the garage to put all the panels etc back on the bike and am allowed out to play tonight once my wife gets home from work (about 7pm) so a run out with a purpose might be nice.
Or is anyone still going to Boxhill?
I'm done for the day, as is redcap.
We've been out for a good few hours this afternoon. Sorry Whealie

Hey hey! The missus is working from home that week so I can leave whatever time I feel like.
I could even, possibly, be involved in an afternoon's bimble if anyone was lonely and fancied company that day. So where, within shouting distance of London (or deep in its pulsating heart), shall we meet?

Chad,
how's your welding skills?
My front frame (the bit that holds all the instruments and the lights) actually has a crack in it and I can't quite get it aligned . I wondered if I brought the beast to you (it is ridable) I could strip all the instruments and lights off, remove the frame and we could have a crack at fixing it, with you doing the welding (I'm no welder)?
Does that sound possible or am I best to scour breakers (trouble is I would imagine its the bit that's damaged first in a head-on collission so most breakers won't have it)?

If we could meet while it is still light we could have a look at some of the byways i have been checking out near boxhill.
Nothing to dramatic as we would not want certain members bikes get to dirty
We might have to restrict that as well to a honda meet since i reckon certain other types of bikes with udder like attachments  might get stuck in a rut or two and my doctor told me not to lift anything over 2 tons
Unfortunally it is getting dark a lot earlyer these days but maybe a idea for a sunday run   :?:

I'm working just outside Guildford that day and I'll be on the bike so I'm wondering whether to bother going home and coming back out or just going direct or via a mate's. I could even call in of Lord Vader again and we could head down together.

Finished work a bit earlyer today and had another look at some byways near boxhill.
Very :D :D :D nice,at first just gently along a nice path through a bit of forest wich became more and more rough.Lots of at least fistsize stones and a few deepish ruts.Nothing dramatic just enough to make you feel like there is more to the @ than touring  ,must say the bike handled this little things much better than me.
I do need offroad lessons.
That track could get interesting when it starts raining a bit, there was a lot of loose sand at the beginning of the track for all the horses( mud, lots of it   )
So if anybody should be able to get to Rykas in day light on friday the 29th let me know and we could play before we meet the other guys
