If you know of a good venue, let everyone know..
If you're interested - let everyone know..
Hi
New to this forum but contribute (ok...abuse) others regularly.
Just gone back to an Africa Twin after a Vara and a KTM
Ive organised a few runs around my home turf in the Cotswolds (Moreton in Marsh/Stow on the Wold/Cirencester) with the Vara brigade on the VUK site.
If any of you chaps...chapesses... fancy a day out in the locale I could find us an interesting route that would be mainly back roads, the odd 'A' road blast, some simple by-ways and the odd ford to splash through.
The route could be done two up or on a Vara if your not scared of water.....
Probably start and finish at a cafe somewhere and try to get four or five hours riding in between 10am and 5pm...a bit of lunch and a few picture stops etc.
I was thinking of a Saturday or Sunday in late June ..... any interest?

Jo says yes as long as we can stop for a pub lunch at a proper time (not 3pm she says!) as its our anniversary.
Not sure how many years.
<slap>Ouch!
I'm told very angrily that its our 17th anniversary.
How on earth could I have forgotten how many years! Silly me.

I think that a pub lunch at lunch time sounds like an excellent idea and if the lads play up then me and Jo can get stroppy with you

THe welsh lot are thinking about a 2 day wales tour august time. Anyone interesting in tagging along?
Give us some idea of dates and we can get a date that suits most.
I may be depending on dates (Aug is a very busy month)... but why is this in the west midlands forum?

Just tryin' to be right neighbourly ;)
well thats a mighty kinda y'all
This has to be the quietest sub-forum on the whole site!"!
I am trying to put together a gentle green lane ride-out for a small group, suitable for big trailies as opposed to out and out off-roaders. Probably kick off here in Telford, and take in a jaunt down towards Bridgnorth and Kidderminster then if time allows, back across towards West Shropshire for a finale. All a bit of an unknown at the moment as it is a long time since I took a run out... I used to have a stonking TRF run along this general route, but sadly, we have lost a of of the choicer lanes and are now left with a few Byways and UCR's. However, it is a nice bit of the world!
At present, I am updating my now very ancient marked up maps, but I hope to do a proper recce in the next week or so if I can persuade an old mate to come along with me and then offer it up before the weather gets too wet, as the aim is for it to be achievable on non-knobblies.
Any interest?

Once I've got an engine sorted for one of my dommies (I think it might be a bit much on a tiger ) I'd be up for something like that, thought I'd got one sorted but it looks like its fallen through, I'll perhaps catch the next run

"In theory" the run should be managable on a Tigger, but until I have recced the route, I canna be certain.... I will be doing it on a Transalp on Tourance tyres, so not much difference to your kit :)

I've only ever had the tigger down one fire track (loose gravel track) it felt terrible and I'm running Continental road Attacks which to be honest may as well be bald off road, there's virtually no protection on the underbelly leaving the oil filter very exposed to flicked up stones and the like .......and boy is it heavy!
I'm definitley up for this and so will my mate Pete (Knobby101)
I'll PM you my details so you can get in touch - I don't always have access to the forum
Regards
Paul

Hmmm, you do not sound very positive here... :) I guess pukka road rubber is going to be a stretch if we get another wet spell. Hell, I'll be investing in some TKC's
IKWYM rearding the underside, the 'alp is not good, but I have jubiliee clipped a sheet of 5mm polyurethane sheet to the frame wihch will deflect the odd stone/tree root, I hope. So far, so good!

Is that a polite way of calling me a big girls blouse

Certainly not! Careful yes....
....expecially with 230kg of shiny red Tigger slithering about on a grassy track! :toothy8:

Now got me maps more or less updated, and I just need a run out to check the route one morning after I have fitted some better tyres after all the wet stuff falling outa the sky of late! I will have a better idea of the surface conditions then.
Looks as if it will be some gentle green lanes and tracks in East Shropshire and then a chop across some nice roads to the West, close to the Welsh Border.
A date will follow soon....
