There's not an awful lot that I want to do to my Dominatrix - for the Isle of Man, it's pretty good as is, as we don't have any motorways or even dual carriageway. As we currently don't have a national speed limit, I've found that mine maxed out at an indicated 96mph

I've fitted a Hagon rear shock when the original gave up the ghost on my New Year's ride in 2005, and have been generally been upgrading as I go.

The Laser ProDuro silencer was fitted by a previous owner and is a trifle fruity

I removed the footpeg rubbers when I started trying out the tracks over here, and I must say that I haven't really noticed the vibrations through them much - longest ride was between 3 and 4 hours covering all of 120 miles :D Small roads and the like.

My original seat is currently in Santa Rosa, CA with James Renazco at Renazco Racing (http://www.renazco.com) to be re-built to suit my height, weight, riding requirements etc - James is a member of the ADVRider (http://www.advrider.com) site, and has made seats for a number of dual sport bikes with a good reputation. In the meantime, I've fitted a later RD08 seat - it attaches OK, but the shape is wrong at the tank and above the mounting bolts at the back.

I'm hopefully about to win some JF Motorsport crashbars on German eBay, so they will be added when I receive them - if I don't win, then the H&B bars will be purchased instead.

I'm aiming to take the bike off-island for the first time in April or early May, for a long weekend in Scotland with a mate - at least then I'll be able to tell how it copes with motorway work, as the plan is to take it to probably Annecy in France in mid-June and to the Dolomites in mid July :D

With a few drops on the trails, I've bought some secondhand fairing sides, so I'll need to get them re-sprayed to match the bike at some point.

I'm also contemplating some Renthal bars, H&B side carriers and some Alpos boxes. I'd also like an Acerbis 23-litre tank, but am struggling to find one at the moment on eBay - Acerbis stopped producing it last year, and need 100 orders to make it again

I had a root through your Smugmug albums - some good stuff in there Ben.

Sam, (or Rallybug as we used to call you!)

Great to see you here, too. I've a couple of questions, if you don't mind...What did it cost to send your seat to James? Did he need the whole thing or just the pan? Although I've a Touratech plank on mine, it's still not great!

Oh, and have you moved in to your new place yet?

TIA

-Simon

Hi Simon, yep just about moved in now (got one or two more car loads to come, plus finish cleaning the old rented apartment). Finally brought the Domi up today from the old place. It's nice to be in somewhere with double glazing, gas-fired central heating, a shower, proper gas cooker etc etc

Isle of Man Post charged me £47.75 to send my entire seat across (the rebuild will cost $275 in vinyl plus postage back to me, but that still works out cheaper than a new seat from Honda via David Silver Spares!), so as it went ParcelForce, I'd imagine yours would be similar (dependent on weight etc). I send the whole seat as it came off the bike, but I know that Buckster on ADVRider bought a seat pan for his 640 Adventure from a place in the US and had it sent to James direct, so James can build from either.

Best thing to do would be to drop him an email or PM on ADVRider - he's on a week's vacation at the moment, out in the desert, but he's very good at getting back to you with answers etc.

That's interesting, thanks Sam. If I ever upgrade (nah!! move sideways) to a KTM the US seatpan would be a good idea, but I think I'd struggle to get an AT pan in the US!!

Glad to hear that your finally moving in, your own space is a very special thing.

Cheers
