View Full Version : Neutral switch

Lurking in the crud behind the sprocket cover is, as far as I can determine from my blurry maintenance manual, the unobtrusive neutral switch. After cleaning all the gravel and gunge I'm left with a brassy looking stub and a teeny weeny wire with a round cable terminal on the end. There's also a small rubber cover with a teet on the end (I assume for drainage).

 In true dumb-ass fashion, I didn't see what was holding the wire on the brass stub...surely it can't just hang there.

Please help !

It's not the best spot in the world to put a switch like that, indeed...

Can't for the life of me remember what makes that plug tick, but I've got a very ugly flash picture of a very ugly bike :-) that manages to show a bit of detail, with that plug on it in working order: http://rubberchicken.nl/pics/IMG_2421.JPG

My eyes must be failing me.....I couldn't make out anything in there :(

Maybe if you had a look here (last picture) you might see my dilemna. I mean the cable terminal can't just hang on the stub surely (am I repeating myself here ?) :!:

There is a visible groove around the circumference of the stub - maybe there should be a circlip holding the wire on ? Now I remember why I hate DIY :x

It's an angular plug that clicks over the stub, but I have no idea how it works underneath the rubber cap, so I couldn't tell you where that ring goes. :?
