View Full Version : Scottoiler
Hey all.
Just thought I'd share. :D
Fitted my scottoiler at last on Saturday.
I got it free with my bike (from a dealer at the end of November '05)) due to my shrewd business acumen
Anyway the dealer would'nt fit it !! he said that the dommie didn't have a vacuum pipe on the carb !?! ..I just ignored him and took the free scottoiler away :D
After emailing scottoiler direct they sent me instructions detailing the vacuum pipe... lol...so there's no way I'm taking her back for a service to that dealer !
I bought a High Capacity Reservoir (the big square bit that fites behind the number plate), a dual injector kit and duly followed the instructions.
Took me about 4-5 hours all in all
All seems to be well, although I need to give it a few more days, I only do a 26 mile round trip each day...the rear sprocket gets a little wetter after each journey so it's looking promising.
Anyway I'll try and get some pictures taken and posted of the old girl later.
TTFN.

You might want to reinforce the bit of sub-subframe that's behind the rear fender, then. Because it's barely able to cope with the rear fender alone, nevermind when you put weight on it...
I've already broken 2, and only 2 because I've been lazy repairing them and haven't even bothered after the second one. ;-)

So Scott, please tell of this vacuum pipe :D I've been given a second hand oiler, but couldn't see a vacuum pipe and didn't want to drill into the manifold as suggested in the scotoiler booklet  Where did you mount the oil pump? only place I could see was on the rear foot rest mount. Some piccies would be lurvly.
Cheers Pat.
Didnt get a chance to take pics last night..but I'll giove it another go tonight.
I'll try and get the instruction's posted up as well a bit later.

From the Scottoiler Spain (http://www.scottoiler.es/Galeria/A/Honda_NX_650_Dominator.htm) site
Cool
Was just trying to work out how to get that 1st picture out of the PDF Scottoiler sent me.
Anyway, the vacuum pipe on my bike (2000 model) didnt have the 'T' in it, but it is the same pipe (I hope !!)

Cheers guys, I'll have a delve this weekend. Suppose I might have done better myself if I could have been bothered enough to take the tank off and actually looked

Lol...
This was the first 'major' operation I've carried out on the old Dommie.
I had a GS500E before this and had the carbs in and out so many times for various reasons, I had the whole process down to about 50 mins.
Took me nigh-on five hours to add this little chain oiler... lol
Going back to your earlier question :
Where did you mount the oil pump?
I got the High Capacity Reservoir (http://www.scottoiler.com/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=3&idproduct=22) (HCR), which has a section to hold the main oil container pump thing. The HCR then bolts to the rear mudguard under the numberplate.
Also got the dual injector kit (http://www.scottoiler.com/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=3&idproduct=21).
Got both bits from ebay...brand new, cheaper than scottoiler, and waaaaay cheaper than the dealer from where I got the bike / scottoiler kit
Just got to get some longer bolts and big 40mm washers for the HCR mounting

Always found fitting an oiler is a good way of finding your way around a new bike.
Yep, agreed.
It was nice to get her top off and have a fiddle

I was lucky in that the kit supplied with the dual injector includes all sorts of bits and bobs for various fitments. One was an 80mm (I think) bolt of exactly the same thread as the bolt's holding the 'shark fin' chain guard on (under the swing arm); I added two of the supplied spacers (which you can see in the pic) and the dual injector was perfectly aligned with the sprocket.

It's the Honda lineage, the Dommie is the Nephew of the AT :D
Thanks.
