Anyone got any opinions/experience of the NX250?

I've been offered one for a reasonable enough price and am just wondering if they are any use or not.
It would be used only on road mainly for taking me to work and back a round trip of 90 miles mostly dual carriageway type roads.
Any views/opinions anyone has would be most helpful.....thanks

Go for it.

Although you must realise that it ain't gonna be a gentle cruise over the 90 miles, especially if its on faster dual carriageway roads :?

Probably the best thing to do is loan the bike for one journey if that's possible.

Other than that, there's not much else I can offer that would be of benefit

Picture this..... minus 2 degrees, compact snow on the roads. I'm in the garage tinkering with the dommie, and the neighbour (ok...he lives up the hill 300 mtrs) pulls up at the end of the driveway with the NX250 (white/blue). He's got car tyre studs in tyres...car studs mind you - not the chunky bike studs  It's a bit heavy when the snow's more than 1/2mtr deep, but otherwise get's him everywhere.
So, my dear rathcon, I'd snap it up - cos for such a small commute - you're gonna be laughing. There is also one huge positive. You have the knowledgable and charming guys on here to help you all the way :D
Apparantly, NX250's are becoming like rocking horse poo, so you're getting yourself an investment too !

So looks like a good purchase then, have to give the guy a call and see if its still available.......

Haven't seen too many 250's up for sale, so I guess they are not all that common, or else people just keep hold of them.....

Thanks for the advice, no doubt I'll be making more posts if I do get it!!

Anything in particular to look out for when giving it the once over??

Anything in particular to look out for when giving it the once over??

I'd say definately look at the Exhaust pipes, they rust like buggery and aren't 'that' cheap to replace
Brake disks - not too worn or bent/warped
Spokes - all present
Chain + sprocket(s) - not worn
Rear shock - not leaking/rusty etc
Forks - not leaking etc

Start it and make sure it idles OK and starts OK.
When it's idling turn the handlebars from lock to lock and listen to see if the rev's rise, if they do there is a throttle cable routing problem.

All the above shouldnt stop you buying but will enable you to haggle to replace/repair parts etc.
Finally check that the numbers on the bike match the number in the log book.

Enjoy my man, enjoy !

Spoke to the guy about it on the phone today....everything seems alright with it so hopefully go to see it on Monday.

Was imported in '92, 25,000kms, new chain, sproket, tyres and battery quite happy to cruise along at 60-65mph and return a decent enough mpg.

Just need to find the time to actually see it now!! These nights shifts really ruin a social life!!

So firstly apologies for keeping you all guessing!!

Time and circumstances were against me on this one, was all set to go and take a look at the bike - money in the pocket and everything.

Then had to make an emergency visit to Ryan Air to book flights back to the UK, nephew had been taken ill, rushed into hospital.........by the time I got back (yesterday) the bike had been sold.

Ah well, C'est la vie I guess, the search goes on.........quick question regarding the 650 dommie, anyone know if it has to be restricted for driving on a provisional licence??
