Forgive for sounding daft on here but Ive just got a 1995 Dommie and Ive never owned an oil in frame bike before. How do I do the oil change? Presumably the bolt at the bottom of the frame is the drain plug but thats as far as I have got so far. Please help me !!

2 bolts basically:
One on the downtube, and one in the side of the engine near the shifter. First the downtube, then the other one.
You probably want to take the bashplate off as well, because it just catches the last bit of dribbling from the draining downtube, and that generally makes a bit of a mess of things.
Don't forget to change the filter every other time, too. (And make sure you get the filter cover back on in the right way, else you'll block your oil pump.)
Then fill it up with about 1.5 liter, run the engine for a bit, and finally top it up. (The downtube won't take the whole 2 and a bit liter oil change in one go, so don't blindly tip 2 bottles in there or you're going to get a very slick floor indeed. ;-) )

Rubberchicken is spot on :D Only thing I would add is as she is new to you, check the oil strainer at the very bottom of the frame down tube. I wouldn't check it every change, but as you haven't been responsible for the maintenance upto now, its worth a look.
I always change the oil and filter every 2,000miles, and I always use genuine filters with semisynthetic oil (castrol's one). I know it's a few more bucks, but over 2,000 miles it's not a lot per mile and I'm paraniod with good reason. Had a CX once and seized it all for a crappy filter collapsing and the mineral oil not being changed regularly (I was young and foolish and maintenance was for whimps  )

Or end up like me at the last change - the bolt by the shifter wouldn't come out, so leant the bike right over once the filter was out. That got most of it out - the dealer can take care of the rest when it goes in for the service before my summer trips to the Alps and the Dolomites

Right then. Been a bit of a delay getting the spanners out for a week or so; I got distracted by getting my speedo to work and painting things - Ive become obssessed by spraycans (maybe it 's the fumes). Anyway I have just done the oil and filter. How easy is that?? Certainly loads easier than some of my other bikes, Nc30 especially. You have to have munchkin hands to get into that one!!
Any way thanks all for the advice, just need to MOT it and then hit the road.

My mate's got an NC30 race bike, and watching him do the front plugs is funny
