Why is HTML turned off or not working anymore?
I believe this was turned off as a security measure when the site was being attacked by crackers.
Do you need it on?
Yep it has been turned off because of that.
Do you need it on?
It would be nice to have HTML in order to avoid posting long http://... URL strings. I tried to reply to one message last evening and when I posted the URL, it displayed with a broken URL string. The entire string was there, but if someone clicked on it, they would not be taken to that webpage because the URL was incomplete.
Someone would have to copy and paste the URL into a browser in order to get to the webpage and frankly, by some of the posts I have read, some people can not figure out that is what they have to do to see the website.

Could you not just use the url= tags as a link?
Either that, or use TinyURL.com (http://tinyurl.com) to create a short URL :dontknow:

Unless I'm missing something I don't know what you mean.

works fine doesn't it?
I've not used any tags with them at all.
Need I say more?

There does seem to be an issue, but I've got around it on that thread by using the tinyurl.com (http://tinyurl.com) link creation tool.
The problem is the ' in the URL.
Take it out and its fine, well although the URL doesn't actually work!
I must admit I'm suprised that this is a valid character in URL's I certainly wouldn't use it.
Need I say more?
No, but I think we all need to understand why that link is not working. This site is working as it should and will automatically convert valid URLs.
I believe that the URL you've posted isn't correctly formatted, in that the apostrophe is an "extra character" and the site expects a certain format of data which it can't see. Whilst some slack, standard-less browsers may not have issues with such things, standards driven packages, such as the software driving this forum perform as you've seen, and stick to the standards.
You can get around this problem in the ways suggested, or use the URL buttons in the "Post a reply" window.
Hope that helps :)
