Is it more than one reply to the same thread that you've had an email about?

I know that in some bulletin boards you might get only one email about new threads per day, until you visit the thread, and then it'll notice and send another email if a further reply is made.

Make sense? It did in my head, anyway

Dunno. I keep finding myself getting logged out on occasion, so if I only read but not post, then the forum doesn't register me as having read the thread.

Would cause a similar effect - but then you'd notice having had to log in when you post.... wouldn't you?

No - but you can read without logging in. So if you just read the thread, you won't get any updates until you've posted on a thread, and then someone subsequently replies to whichever threads you've subscribed to...

This could be the security software again that is too tight.
I'll raise an issue with our web hosts.
