Tempted by the Dark Side...

Well, it's been 10 days I've been without my ride thanks to some thieving barstewards. I haven't been without a bike in over 9 years and I'm feeling the pain!

I'm thinking of taking the plunge and going for a Varadero. There's a tasty one for sale up the road from me and it seems like a good deal, and a good replacement for the Twin. I've got no serious touring plans for at least another year and anything I do in the meantime isn't likely to take me down anything more challenging than a B Road. The Vara seems like a good bet for eating up the miles.

What do you reckon?

Terrible idea. Huge over-powerful bike, massive ability to munch miles, also able to commute and scratch on weekends, even do some gentle off-road... sort of. Don't do it!

You aren't really asking the right people, are you? :D Seriously, if you are happy with a big, heavy bike, it's a great option. Don't dismiss the Transalp though. It has everything anyone needs, but the mid-sized engine puts some people off. Either way you get great build quality, finish and reliability.
