I'm not sure if you mean the "steamer", the 885i?
I've heard great tales of high milage Tiggers out there. The only failing I've heard of both the steamers and 855i is an issue known as DAR.
Damned alternator rattle, otherwise they are sound.

Saw an S reg 900 Tiger yesterday, I much prefer this styling, apart from the "screen" what's all that about?

Much prettier (doesn't have the two bumcheeks hanging over the petrol tank look  )
But any good?

Ah! That's a steamer! I like the look of these older beasts, real Dakar look to them. Apart from the alternator rattle issue they're tough as old boots.
The girly Tigers (so called for having eye brows above the headlights like a girl) are either 885i or the newer 955i, although, no eyebrows!
I think the engine in the 885's are a bit noisier but they are genuinely bombproof, no known failures that I know of. I've seen quite a few on the Tiger forum with high milage and the owners say they've no problems with them.
Mine has "bum cheeks" to use your phrase! I've an 04 girlie. Love it to bits.
I'd say ride it and see, if you like it, buy it!

There-in lies the rub, if I ride it i'll defo need to buy it and well finances are a little low at the mo to say the least, I think i'll have to stay away from DK Motorcycles for a while, they've got too many nice bikes :(
Talking of "steamers" they've got an old GT750 "kettle" in very nice trim
Anyone seen the new Tiger?
It looks like a damned Fazer!!!!

All the early trumps had problems with spraggy clutches there heavy ponderous but have that lovely sweet tripple get used to dropping one though they like to throw themselves on the floor alot
Ive been there done that ( 1995 Blue TIGGER)
It was a great bike but as Ive now found the XRV is a much better all round bike.
( It troubles me to say that being a great British bike fan)
Ive had three new Hinkley Triumphs ( 1200 Trophy....lasted six weeks and was written off by a taxi driver in a hurry!) a Daytona ( that nearly killed me......my back mostly) and the Tigger. (BRILLIANT)
The spragg clutch refered to is a common prob with the first genneration of the triple engine.
It happened to my Daytona... luck had it it was after I sold it!
Caused by trying to start the engine with a near flat battery.....the excess fuel ignites ( eventually) and sheers the starter clutch......
Engine out / full rebuild for a part that retails at £35.
So if its battery is flat....DON'T start it until the Battery is recharged.
NO MATTER WHAT
The question is would I have another one?
Answer YES
But Im gona try an R1150GS first

Agreed, the spy pics are awful, you would hope not the way forward!
But since that one there's a new one doing the rounds, supposedly to run alongside the multistrada looking new one, an adventure model with desert style tank and wire wheels. This being the case, I might stay with Triumph, if the reports are correct I'd say "look out BMW"
