Well, there's plenty of threads on xrv.org.uk discussing how an Africa Twin could be "improved" with more power, adding road wheels and tyres, firming up suspension, etc...

...so judging by what we seem to want, Triumph are right on the money

I'd buy one if I wanted to replace the Speed Triple. But not if I wanted to replace the Africa Twin. I think the 'trials' version of the Enfield Bullet comes pretty close to being a good AT replacement - dog slow, sh*te build quality, but reasonable running costs and a certain improbable charm.

Oooh very like a Fazer 1000 isn't it?!

I imagine though that if they do release an ADV version it'd be pretty sexy

I'll stick with the GS for now. Lets hope Honda have been reading the XRV comments on what a real DS bike should be like. We know best...dont we lads :!: :!: :!: :evil3: :dontknow: :laughing5:

I think it's the dog's danglies! I LOVE my current Tiger and think the new one is a step beyond. It has the appeal of style, 1050cc engine for 130 BHP power for touring. Upside down forks, braced swing arm, it's lovely!

Yes, I'd prefer a more adv style one, a few mods and it'll be sweet! There has been word of one to follow it with spoked wheels, 19" front, larger tank. I can only hope this is so. If Honda can't come up with a replacement for the @T I might consider a new Tiger instead.

Everyone to their own, I've fell in love with the 955i Tiger, sweet bike. The note is to die for! Two up touring, offroad, scratching, it's an excellent bike for every day running. I've a few mods on mine and love the versatility of the bike. It took a while to get used to it, quirky? Possibly, took me near a month to get the pegs to touch down. But once used to it I now love it. 140mph, 50+mpg, sweetest ride I've ever had without boobs!

Just my unbiased opinion folks!

i agree thee 955 is a great all rounder thats why they need to make another thats got better adv abilitys to keep the new bike as versatile as the 955 :D :D :D :D

This is pretty much close to my ideal bike, don't really want much off-road capability, so the road stylie is perfect and a bit more "street" than the Vara which is a great tourer, but not for me (he says changing his mind yet again  ), what I like about the trailies is the physical size and riding posture.

Only problem for me is it's a bit too big, like I said before 750cc would be fine and should yield plenty of power, but with reasonably good mpg.

Well done Triumph

Sorry Jim, just read the end of your post, if it does 50+ mpg I'll have one now (or in a few decades when I can afford one :( )

Quick update, just read the torque mag that you get from Triumph quarterly, (funny, Honda never sent me a mag?) 114 BHP, sure to go up with race mapping though! 8)

I do a lot of touring on mine, usually two up, so power is good!

Ok, life with the 955i, took a month to get used to the power delivery and the quirky handling. Not so even power spread like the twin, more up the revs so took a few runs to get max effort but now I'm used to it I can keep up with most bikes through the box. Handling, the front tends to disappear on you! I found this alarming for a few weeks, but once you get used to it the bike drops well into corners until the peg starts rising! It's a tall bike so well over to touch down. Touring, it's not so comfy as the Varadero, wind noise is high so earplugs a must for every ride. Economy is brilliant, hard going will bring it just below the 200 miles to 4 gallons imp. Reasonable riding sees a return of 214 to 218 miles to 4 gallons imp. Although not so comfy, the Triumph is the better all rounder. Offroad I can't fault the bike, rides like an XR, too much power but as I used to use Maico 490 and CR500 I'm used to it and love it!
Over all, the build quality is very good, finish is better than Honda in my opinion. I've ridden Hondas for decades and was, and still am a loyal customer, still have Blade and CB750, but Triumph are now filling the gap Honda refuse to fill for the @T. Triumph may still gain my loyalty in the future, they are British and I'm proud to ride one.

Sorry for waffling guys, as you can see, I love the bike very much and I'm passionate about it. I'm always singing it's praises but I think justified. Keep it safe out there folks.

Must admit this 2007 tiger looks seriously cool, i know it may not be a true dualsport but it does look superb and i bet is a fantastic road bike.

Very nice, very nice indeed

it boils down to the same thing again we need a decent trailie tourer with good comfort and handling, power etc and a second bike that can do a reasonable distance but is light enough for some decent off roading :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

keep it going guys its all working towards convincing the wife i need two bikes

I saw a 1200GS Adventure coming down the road the other day... and it reminded me of something, but I couldn't think what.

It was something about the shape, with the bulging plastic bits, and the crash bars etc. all over it.

After a while it came to me! It was reminiscent of on of these:

Not for me. Anything that does not have a decent bashplate underneath is too much of a full on road bike compromise. Rather have a TDM900 for £5000 new.

I am sure the new Trumpet is a great bike, I just don't like that triple; a traillie needs a "chook-a-chook" engine ( a big mono or fat twin), not a silky smooth turbine-like powerplant. I was seriously disappointed when I tried the 955 Tiger, I could not really fault it, was really quick and I liked the looks as well, it just did absolutely nothing for me. :?

I agree funnily enough, first test run I was disappointed! I decided to take the plunge and I'm happy I did, just my opinion, but I wasn't impressed with first impressions of the Triumph.

I now love the bike and wouldn't part with it for any Honda, sorry guys.
