There seem to be conflicting reports on pre injecting tyres with repair fluid in the hopes that it will prevent a puncture. Can anyone advise whether they run with the compound installed and if it causes any wheel balance problems. Hope to to hear from someone,
James.
I run it in off road/rally tyres, and always did on the TA. Knobblies or rim locks will unbalance much more than slime.
I'll probably run it in the road tyres for the Longest Day too, sort of a "fit and forget" situation.
:D.

I slime - no wheel balance problems. For the sum of £9.99 , I reckon it could just save a lot of aggro.
I use slime in my mountain bike tyres all the time. As Wee jack says no agro. It seals the small punctures that you never know you've had but not the pinch punctures. No problems with balance at all.
When I got a Transalp I put it in and had no problems with balance after the first 300 metres or so whilst the slime worked it's way around. You can feel it initially but it's no big deal.
I went to the Bulldog bash fully loaded up panniers tent topbox etc with my lad on the back and got a large square nail in the rear tyre without knowing it. The bike just squirmed, which I thought was due to the wet - it was raining and I had crossed some overbanding. I travelled a further 80 miles at 80-90 mph, got there safely, set up camp and when I got up in the morning the tyre was flat.
It has certainly saved the agro and possibly a blow out or even worse a crash. The slime had sprayed out of the tyre whilst continuing on and had covered the underside of the bike quite comprehensively - there was none of it left in the tube when I went to repair the puncture.
Tyre places do tend to down play or disdain it's use though.
The choice is yours.

I've got Ultraseal rather than slime in mine - ISTR slime has a max speed rating.

I'v run Slime in my BT020's on a GSX750F forever.. (and will be doing on my DL1000 as soon as I can get to the shop and buy some!)
No problems at normal road speeds or on the track at twice the legal road speeds.

there is a formula on the side of the bottle that tell you exactly how much you need.. and I calculated it to be like 6.7oz for the rear... so i stuck in the entire 8oz bottle...:D
pumped up the tyre to about 3/4 full put it is gear (on centre stand) and spun it for a few seconds... finished the pumping and totaly forgot i used it... great stuff...

I cant say for slime but i put goop in my tyres sometime ago and the green stuff rotted out my tyre valves as it was in there for quite a long time, although it is supposed to last the life of the tyre. Talking to my local tyre supplier they can supply there own stuff which is supposedly better. I have also seen stuff at the plymouth megaride that was being injected into tyres that turns to a carbon fibre type compound they recond that you could hit a house brick at 90mph and cause no damage, i wouldn't want to try it though. The solution i came up with for peice of mind was to wire in a power socket and carry a 12v compressor for emergencies when we go any distance
