:)

for the longest day i was going to take the week off before and have a long ride/ walk over the mountains and stuff.. seems a bit silly just to ride up there and come right back...

i have a nice tent and was going to take, a meth's cooker for food... and sleeping bag... but all that adds quite a bit of weight/ takes up space on the bike.. I have tried riding with the side box's on and partly loaded and it makes quite a bit of difference to the ride style.. thus i wanted to put as little on the bike as possible..

what are the camping sites like in Scotland/ what are the laws of just setting up a tent where you feel tired? or would be be a better idea to leave it all behind and just find a B&B for the night where ever i stop...

thanks for any pointers?

dunno what the official line is up there matey but in most of the wild parts of theuk wildcamping isn't a problem unless you take the p*ss and go in big groups and leave rubbish everywhere!

as a general rule as long as you are off the beaten track and pitch up late and are up and about early and only leave flattened grass then no one will give a monkeys!!

enjoy dude!

In Scotland Wildcamping is legal (within reason, obviously you can't just camp in someone's garden - I think you also have to be 100Mtrs from any roads), but in the rest of the UK it isn't - What that really means is as long as you aren't taking the p**s you should be OK anywhere, just accept that in England & Wales all land is owned by someone, so in theory you could be asked to decamp and move on.

I think wild camping is completely legal in Scotland, but there are rules such as you needing to be a certain distance from the road and from inhabited dwellings etc. to be completely legal.

I've got some links somewhere. I looked into this a while back. I'll see if I can find them.

Ah looks like Steve beat me to it (weird - don't think I spotted that post before I posted but I'm sure it didn't take me 26 minutes to post it - must have my eyes shut).

Those were the ones I bookmarked. Might be some helpful info in there.
