OK, so my Dominator is my first ever off road bike, I've been commuting on it for the passed few weeks. Now I have a primevil urge to get off road and dirty with it.

How do I know where I can and cannot go? any suggestions for the Scarborough area?

Thinking more of a trail ride, rather than round Low North Camp.

Ta Si

Wykeham Forest would be a good start. Theres lots of fire roads that are ORPA's. Look for the red dots on the OS map.
If you want to go the whole hog then join the TRF, you live in a fantastic area for offroad riding and they will show you around. When ever I go that way I rely on someone else to lead because there are so many trails and its easy to get lost if you're not paying attention the map.

Excuse my ignorance, whats "ORPA & TRF"?
Thanks Si.

Excellent, so all I have to do is follow the tracks with the red dots. Will have to gaffer tape the map to the handlebars or something.... can you tell I'm a novice to off roading:p

thanks for info.

thanks for info.I put my map in a plastic map holder from Millets and use re-usable zip ties to attach it to my handlebars or tank bag mounting. You can see it below.

Hi Loudnorthernbloke, I am a newbie / born again biker, after driving everywhere in a car for 18 years I decided to buy an AT 6 weeks ago. Like yourself I would like to have a bash at trail riding.
If you want to meet up to do a run one weekend give me a shout I am more than willing to travel.

If any of the more experienced off road riders amongst you would like to show a novice how to go on, an invitation to join you would be gratefully appreciated.:p

Thats a great looking DR350 you have there Yen. I bought my first one as a temporary measure till a similar sized Honda came up - but it was so reliable I ended up keeping it and has still never let me down once! I use it for greenlaning and even went 3000 miles around France and Spain last year - she has never missed a beat - amazing bikes.

Loudnorthernbloke, if you want to meet up this weekend I am free this afternoon or tomorrow. I am based north of Leeds so I can head in your direction. Let me know if this weekend is good and if so suggest a time and place.

Thanks, next weekend will be great Saturday or Sunday. Tried to send you a PM but the system said that you have blocked them. PM me if you want.

A couple of weeks ago I had my first ride out around Scotland with the Irish Crew and meet up with the Highlanders and had a great time. It would be great if we could get a Yorkshire group together or an invitation if one already exists.

Paul.

Mine's in the garage at the moment with the swingarm and rear suspension removed for regreasing (and one or two replacement parts).
