Sorry wrong question. How many miles do you think a set of brake pads should last on an 1150 GS? These are original OEM one's from BMW, reassuringly expensive at about £75 for a set of front one's.

That can't be right surely. I had a set of rear pads from a dealer for my ADV ( 5000 miles :confused::confused::confused: ) and they were only around £25 fitted.

These are front pads...... and the twist is that it's not what you were expecting.
I have done 31000 miles and the pads are the original one's.
I bought a set of replacement pads not long after I bought the bike, and they are still on the shelf with the bill to prove. The bike only had 4K miles when I bought it so even if the previous owner had them replaced, which I doubt, they are still going strong after 27K miles!!!
Mind you I do tend to use the back brake rather more and I've replaced them about 8 times!

I am truly amazed Dave,I'm just wondering though if you disc's are are as thin as Rizla Papers because of it ? I once used some really great pads (I thought) on an @ I had, but they wore the discs down to 2.7mm real fast and that failed the MOT !!! ............Go on ,have a look and let us know. :)

i tend to be heavy on front pads in the summer but feck me 27k on a set of fronts is amazing:D:D:D considering just how bloody fast you are;):D

The pads are getting close now though, should be good for another 5k though. Also I found out that the brakes on my ABS GS are linked which could also explain why I'm getting even better mileage out of them. I didn't realise that the EVO servo abs system was linked.

its only linked rear to front when the front brakes applied it dont use the rear like on the vara.....so ive been told;):confused:

are they bmw disks as the GSs are usually quite heavy on disk wear....or have you been using the parachute braking method:D:D:D

Replaced front and rear on my @ at 32k kms, less than half worn. Don't really use them alot, front mainly if any, I try to use the engine mostly. Have kept them as backup.:thumbup:
