That bloody Bob let me have a go on his new steed (950adv)on the way back from London. Better start saving (6 months just for the service?). Has anyone on here tackled a full service themselves? Harder than a desmo? BMW not in the same league to ride. Alive, responsive, stable. It's a Ducati on steroids.

YUP Thats why i have turned down Stan and Chad for a go on there steeds, Iknow i would get off and go straight to the KTM dealer and get all David Dickenson'd.
To be able to buy what is allmost a ralley spec bike from the high street is phenominal and KTM have raised the bar to new standards which is good for all twinduro riders.
PS stan has secretly told me i can have his bike as he is going to concentrate on his love of restoring garden furniture!!! honest to god he has.

"Unfair, unfair, unfair"...pout, pout, sniffle, sniffle.....etc!:D
Stuck here in the middle of the Bay of Bengal and my new, blue & orange lass already primed and ready in the Manila, waiting to be picked up. :(
Another three weeks out here at least, reckon I'll be bouncing off the rigfloor walls, by the time I'm done!.:blob5::rolleyes:

Yep, I liked it! Bob had to wipe the seat afterwards:love1:. It was love at first ride (actually rode Steves 950 S last year). But I'm poor:(

I'm told they are a doddle to self service - no special tools and parts are not expensive. I've not tackled it myself yet as I want to retain the warranty. The only item that concerns me with the 990 (like all modern bikes, so it'll come your way eventually!!!!!) is the software side in the ECU , but for normal oils / filter / plugs etc that would not be an issue.

It looks very straight forward , Im looking forward to doing it myself , but still a year of warranty to run !!!

But you must have received the money from my last bill, it was enormous!!

Don't ride one unless you're very strong willed, you only have to look at Chad, me, Stan, Jack and everyone else who has converted. You cannot resist, it's unpossible.

Mind you, if you do succumb you won't regret it ;););););)

Servicing was described by the technicians (as they're called, I believe!) at my dealership as "a hell of a lot easier than a ten year old CBR600" and over on ADVRider there are lots of guys going their own way without dire quinceconses.

Go on Tony, go on! You know you want to...

Steve's warranty is out now and he is twitching about servicing costs. I've offered to help as long as:
He gets a workshop manual.
Any special tools required.
A bottle of Stella.
He does'nt beat me up with a mallet if it blows up! :naka:

Is Steve the Welsh gent we met at Ubley? I reckon you'd outrun him easy peasy, not even spilling one drop of that bottle of Stella.

Let us know how you get on.
