Hi all
Just found the forum having followed a link from the CRM forum.
Have owned a few Honda's in my time including an XR250, CRF250 and currently got a CRM250MK2 for trail riding, and the odd rally.
Also got a '98 Kwacker GTR1000 which is a bit heavy and combersome.
Thinking about a big trail bike, possibly a Varadero although having doubts about height as I'm a 5'8" shorty. Any suggestions/thoughts will be listened to.
Anyway, nice to have a found the forum and I look forward to some interesting posts.

Welcome to the forum, have you thought about a Transalp, or you could enquire about a lowering kit.

Hi Rich, welcome to the site. The Vara is a great bike we've got lots of members here who swear by them and if they aren't swearing by them they are usually swearing at them :D I am 5 ft 8 and I had no problem getting my feet on the floor of the Vara, so you should be fine. You can get lowered seats for them as well if you need to get a bit more foot down.
Have a good look round there's loads to see and a wealth of information.
I am sure you have already found it but take a look in the Varadero (http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=37)bit, you'll find all you need to know in there, and you may even find some pictures of Varas off road.
Other bits that you may want to look in are the meetings section (http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=40) for details of planned rides and if there is nothing there then post one up and see who is about.
Take a peek in the Chatter (http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=41) section we stop of a gossip, and if your lucky you may well find the topics in there are bike related, wouldn't hold your breath though they talk about everything in there.
After you have been here a while you may want to think about subscribing as well, fairly soon some of the functions that you currently have will no longer be available without subscription, it's just a way for us to be able to improve the site and add extra functions. If you look at the top of the page you will see the subscribe button. If it's not something you want to do that's fine too, you will still be able to post and read the posts that are here so don't go anywhere.
If there is anything you want to ask or if you have any problems then post in the problems with the forum section (http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=46)there are lots of helpful moderators and admins around that will help
Have fun and enjoy the site

Hi Rich, I am also based in Bradford.
I have an Africa Twin, which is great fun to ride on and off road. Earlier this year I went touring around Scotland and in July I did the Ryedale Rally on it. You can buy a decent AT from £1200.
If you are into the Rally's then in October some the members from this site are doing the Cambrian Rally on ATs.
Give me a shout if you want to come round and have a look at my AT.
Paul.

I suspect we know each other, I was with the West Yorks TRF lads at Ryedale - small world and all that ......
I wouldn't mind having a closer look at your AT, are you coming to the Sept TRF meet?
