Newbe saying Hi!

Hi All,

I have found your site to help me get back on the road, I look forward to learning from you guys and putting my two pence where I can.

I have been the owner of a XRV750 for some 6 years but due to a helpful driver back in 2003 taking me off the bike the A/T has been parked in a shed with stuff being thrown in and around it for the past 5 years. I have decided that the time has come to get the bike back on the road.

I am not very technically minded so have little idea what is wrong other than the obvious damage to the tank, engine bars, indicators etc. I do however wonder if the forks/frame are twisted as I was hit from the side, thankfully at slow speed.

Can anyone guide me in the right direction to find a good mechanic to look over the bike? Maybe someone knows if it is possible to get the folks and frame checked out, and if found to be twisted, straightened? Cost will be an issue, as I don't want to really spend more than a grand top’s.

I will drag her out and take some pics shortly.

Hi Don, welcome to the site, glad you've found us and I am sure there will be someone along in a little while who will be able to help you with getting your bike back on the road.

You may want to have a good look around the Africa Twin (http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=34)bit, you'll find almost everything you need to know about the AT in there.

If you just fancy a bit of a natter then pop into our Chatter (http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=41) section, there's not alot that's not covered in there, if your lucky you may even find stuff about bikes there.

After you have been here a while you may want to think about subscribing as well, fairly soon some of the functions that you currently have will no longer be available without subscription, it's just a way for us to be able to improve the site and add extra functions. If you look at the top of the page you will see the subscribe button. If it's not something you want to do that's fine too, you will still be able to post and read the posts that are here so don't go anywhere.

I've taken a few photos, see below. It seems my Step Son (Truck Mechanic) had a shot at the bike but ran out of enthusiasum soon after starting hence a few bits of the bike.

The bike is need of a good clean and showing signs of rust, however at this stage i'm looking to get the A/T mechaniclly sound, the rest can follow in time.

Hi Don and welcome to the forum. We have quite a few members from Ireland who post here, so I'm sure some of them will be along shortly to say hi and introduce themselves.
