The BBC weather (http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=3119)is not looking too good for the National. One or two spots of rain - not that you'll be able to see them as the visibility will be so poor.
It's been absolutely chucking it down all night here (nr Exeter). Must bring my rubber boat!
This weather is really poo:(

Midday Tuesday: Since I posted this morning, Thursday has got worse (one drop to two) but Saturday just got a lot better.

I'm not taking this as gospel as, of course, weather can change so quickly, but the Met Office is showing the following for 0700 Weds to 0700 Thurs for the sea around the IOM:
Wind South or southwest 6 or 7, decreasing 5 for a time, then increasing 6 to gale 8 later.
Sea state Rough.
Weather Rain at times.
Visibility Moderate or good.
I am not looking forward to that crossing - although the SeaCat probably won't go in those conditions, and the conventional ferry might only be a possibility? Hmm, wonder if I'll even get off-island if those weather conditions continue

After this week's weather, probably something like this:

And here's Whealie getting in practice:
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm186/jacqueslemac/Camping%20in%20March/2008Mar058.jpg
But let's hope the ride outs are drier than this one:

For those of you with a sensitive disposition, these pictures were taken in March (http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=25128). As it's now the height of our Indian summer, this weekend may not be as cold...

I think I'm heading in the wrong direction. The BBC forecast for here (Norfolk) is 22 degrees and sunny on Thursday. I reckon it's a conspiracy.

That was one night. It was raining when I arrived about 5pm, rained all evening, rained all night and was raining when we got up. Jaqueslemac made the mistake of loading his bike on the field and had to be pushed off. I carried my panniers to to the track and managed to drive the bike while walking alongside it through the sodden field and load it once on stony ground.
Let's hope ther eis less rain than that.

Just in case it is wet, what's the protocol about cooking in the marquee for those of us camping and doing our own cooking?
Or do I bring a shelter to cook under?

Might dig out a couple of old tent poles and a tarpaulin or groundsheet or something. Should have enough room.

You should be used to it then, with all that practice!
I've got a better tent than in February - a Coleman Phad. You know it well. Funnily enough, it's rained every time I've used it.
Are you heading down or staying with the northern rain?
Come on now lets be positive about the weather, the words from the Met Office site look a lot more friendly.
Rain at first on Thursday but then showers following in during the day. Most places staying dry on Friday and Saturday with some sunshine at times.
Updated: 1532 on Tue 9 Sep 2008
See, that sounds a lot more fluffy and friendly doesn't it.
Except for the wind.

Thursday and Friday are both two drops and Saturday has got one drop again. Visibility is good on Saturday thought.
And we should be able to take the tents down in the dry on Sunday.
The forecast changes so much they cannot actually have a clue what is going to happen.
I remember Jonathan Agnew on Test match Special saying he had looked at the internet and the weather was going to be good. Graham Gooch asked him which site he used, and Agnew said: "Oh i shop round until I find the site with the weather I want."

Weather update,
It will be sunny and hot Thursday through to Sunday,
on the other hand it could continue to have rain and wind.
Unfortunately the crystal ball remains foggy so it could be unsettled.

If you go to www.metoffice.gov.uk (http://www.metoffice.gov.uk), the forecast doesn't look too bad. Closest is the Dartmouth (http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/sw/dartmouth_forecast_weather.html) forecast.

If you enter the post code of the plume it takes you to Tavistock and the forecast shows sunny intervals 16:00 hrs showers.
So It looks like an early start for me to get there before the water.

They lie. Like a rug.
Dashed into the Plume in sunshine (can't be too careful!) just before h
the heavens opened and it pished down!
Stood in the marquee gassing in more pouring rain and jumped at the opportunity to get into Exeter in the dry. And made it, woohoo!!
Wet in the field, dry in the bar!
