Well I've just bought another bike and before you say it.....No it's not another knackered Dominator Its a 1999 Kawasaki KLR650, its done 9500 miles from new (with service history and old MOTs to back it up. It sounds beaut with its remus endcan (also has the original) panels and tank are extremely clean, theres a little very light rust (more staining really on the frame but nothing to worry about) I'll rub this down and give it a touch up spray job for now, might even look at having it stove enameled next year. I paid £1000 and to be honest I pretty pleased with what I've got for my money, there's a lot of crap out there in this price range believe me I seem attracted to them!! but this really stood out from the rest.

What do you think (these aren't my photos, I take soom better ones 2moro when I collect it

you do realise it is the wrong colour? ALL Kawasaki trail bikes MUST be green. it is the only way.

apart from that it looks good.

Nice bike Burt, they love 'em in the US. There's a site there called Dualstar - or similar that does loads of bits for them.

This one's good too - a bloke who goes all over the Canadian wilderness on his KLR;

Now you've bought a decent single at last, maybe your garden will stop looking like a Pikey site??:D

Make sure you get this done...

http://www.klr650.marknet.us/doohickey.html

It's the only real common issue with the motor. A breaker friend of mine has seen several with written off crankcases and seized motors due to this bit failing even at low mileages. Kawasaki upgraded the parts but aftermarket are still better if you can get hold of them.

(I thought I remembered something that I had on the list of things to do if I got one).

Hello again DigiC,

Glad to hear you've got yourself a decent bike. I must admit, I had a good look at KLR's but couldn't find one for the right money. Looks like you have ! I've only been around a day or so, but I did get the impression that your Dominator might be spread amongst your fellow DS appreciation club ....

Very interested in lots of bits from your Dominator (unless of course you have already found a good home for it. Don't want to step on anyones toes as the new boy ....

Wheels - Not a matching pair, rear is a steel rim and looks quite new no corrosion whatsoever, front is traditional gold anodised with light white oxidisision on the surface but no rot
Mirror - only have the N/s mirror
Seat - a nice example in red and black
Exhaust system - only o/s silencer any good
Rear Light Lens - fully functioning in good condition
Rear pegs and hangers look good

I will post photos up 2moro in the for sale section No idea of prices yet (I'm not sure what these things fetch) but probably ask for offers

already bought a tin, most of it is very light on on the swing arm and rear subframe, fortunately I was supplied with another swingarm (which the previous owner had purchased to tart up) and the rear subframe is nice and easy to unbolt for painting, maybe next summer I'll look at getting the whole frame stove enamelled

That Geranium needs watering and for a serious photographer I don't think much of your cropping.... I can't see the girl at the back:D:D

Dilbert

It's a polyganum and it needs re-potting, proper geraniums are the "cranes-bill" type

Agree with you about the cropping though, I can cope with the bit missing from the front wheel, but only a tantalising glimpse of leg is just not good enough :teeth::angel4::teeth: you could have cropped out the bloke too :D

Been out on it a bit today crash it twice in the mud (I really am crap at this offroad stuff) but bikes survived with no damage and I've survived with a sore back (but boy was it worth it just for the grin factor)
Note to self - In future do not where your road leathers for off road they take bloody ages to clean

By the look of that front tyre I think you need to invest in some knobblies, mud clogged tyres have a very low coefficient of friction :toothy4:
