Honda NXR750

The NXR750 was closer to 800cc than 750cc, produced in excess of 75hp, and weighed around 125kg!

Cyril Neuveu won the Paris-Dakar on a NXR in 1986 and 1987, Edi Orioli won in 1988, and Gilles Lalay made it four years in a row in 1989. :D That was the last time Honda has won the Dakar with a bike.

"Taste is the last refuge of the unimaginative"

I'm sure there's a hidden meaning in there somewhere, but I guess I'm too clueless to know what it is...

Iain,

It means I have no taste in motorcycles, but, apparently to counter this failing, I am imaginative :D

For a really paradoxical quote, how about - "Wise men speak quotes, fools repeat them" Doh!

The NXR looks great. There were some lovely HRC bikes then. I always wanted an Eddy Lejeune RTL.
I have a fairing from what looks like an RD03, anybody interested?

I got to sit on Cyril Neuveu's NXR when on display at the Isle of Man. He is about 5' 6" and the seat is up in the clouds. This guy was amazing he would snick it into gear ease out the clutch and as it pulled away swing his leg over the seat.It must have been a pig to pick up when on its side.

I agree whole hearted! This is my favorite big DS Honda of all time. Next would be the RD04 and RD03 @. Very cool machines. :cyclopsani:

Just bought an RD03 exact colours as pic, bin mildly dropped and plastics poorly, what do you want for the fairing and does it include the side flappy bits

Dilbert, sorry only just read this reply. Mine is a lighter colour than the picture appears. I will try to photograph this weekend and post. I do not have the side bits. Somebody else was interested as well but I am not asking silly money. Prob about £30.

price is good, but I need the side panels more, if the other guy doesn't take it I may still be interested, I'm off to Italy this weekend so I won't be able to reply till next weekend, don't hold it back for me though.

So why can't they make a production bike with similar specs over 15 years later?

Even the XR650R is 140kg-ish and is 'kin expensive to tune beyond 60rwhp.

The rampant march of progress, eh?

This is a 1991 Africa Twin 'Marathon' that Honda produced to sell to privateer racers in the Dakar Rally.
