Any interest in having a camping weekend in 2005? (a lot of people here are into camping judging by the 'camping equipment' topic in chatter)
Some where in Wales would be good for me as I can get an over night ferry to there.
(I missed this years one (had all by browny points used up :( )

Phoenix, That would be good I'm in Cork and I think there are one or two Dubin members here too, depending on where the meet will take place (looks like it may be Wales) we can decide which ferry we use, cork, roslare, dublin, or belfast ?

Any other Irish riders interested ??

Hi Banger
My brother lives in the fine city of Cork so I could go down there see him and then we all go travelling.

Kent's a nice place to camp. Less sheep though. Plus it's definitely warmer. And drier. And closer to me. And warmer. And it's got a pub.

Convoy TO Ireland sounds interesting too (I've never been).

Failing that, how about a mass meet at the Horizons 2005 weekend and giving the BMW GS riders a run for their money?

The topic has had 169 hits only 10 replys  is that good or bad ?
If people would like to visit Ireland for a weekend I would certinaly help organise it (camp sites, ride outs ect....... willing to check out the pubs (smoke free remember) in advance even).

Banger I think the @ community are just a bit shy and will happily read about the exciting trips around the place including Ireland and then there's the extraverts who all talk about it. The proof is in the pudding for those out there doing it. All we can do is promote the fun freedom excitment etc etc ( and no I dont work for the tourist board) and hope people will go .... yes I'll try that.

I'll vouch for a trip to Ireland. I've been over a number of times, usually to do the Clare Navigation Rally organised by the Southern Adventure Motor Club. The last time I went was on the Twin, in fact if I remember rightly I was running it in! The west coast scenery was stunning and the hospitality of the locals superb. Contrast the sort of reception you'd get in a Surrey pub if you rocked up with four mates in biking gear covered head to toe in peat bog, with the warm welcome I've experienced time and again in Ireland. :D Personally I fell in love with the mountains and beaches of the north west, so I'd be up for a return trip if I can fit it in.

The HOC has Rallys during the Summer Months. I have tried to encourage members of this Forum to join the HOC, but met a very negitive response. This years camping weekend was a success as well as a washout.

For me to travel to Ireland on my own would very unfair on the other half as she would like to visit the country [ she will not ride pillion on my bike]

When I go on any Honda Rallys I will post on this Forum, any body wishing to try the rallys is welcome as my guest. the club is I think going thro a bit of a crises at the moment.

Does anyone have an idea of when they'd like to do this?

I'm interested but need to plan it in...

Plus is there any consensus to where?

C'mon chaps, let's put a stake in the ground here (or maybe even a tent peg)

BTW. I like the sound of Ireland, never been. I hear southern Ireland is really beautiful.

Ahh.. To be sure, to be sure.. That it is..

I have often tried to promote the Honda Owners Club to no avail on this site. I go on about six Honda Rallys a year. There is a hard cord of about forty plus the Branch members that organise the Rally.

If any body is interested in a camping weekend they are very welcome to join me. All you have to say is that you are my guest and interested in joining the Club even if not. The Rallys are a case of the more the merrier.

OK, Calling all Irish members here, its up to us now, where to entertain our guests for a weekend?
I assume we will have a ride out or two so some where scenic, a camp site, a pub, ect. west coast ? although easy access to ferry ports will also be a consideration, July is bad for me, any other time should be ok.

    Camping in Ireland .........Cannt wait. Banger, what if we did something late August /early sept, weathers usually good then, Or if our happy cousins across the ditch would prefer May, we could do that. As for Itinary, Ferry from Holyhead into Dub, down to Wicklow first night, then over to Lahinch Clare second night etc and back  I suppose a lot depends on now much people want to do or time spent in the saddle or whoopy cushion!!!

I'm coming over to Eire anyway at the end of May, so sometime around then would suit me. Getting the crossing to Dublin on the bank holiday weekend, up to Belfast to see some friends, and then over to the west coast to spend the week camping and photographing. Never been to the far south west, so might venture down that way as well. Should be coming back through Dublin during the weekend of 4/5th June.

If you guys do organise something for September I would recomend Lisdoonvarna (sp?) for the festival! If you've been you'll know what I'm on about, if you haven't then it's a real eye opener! :cyclopsani: And the guys from the Southern Motorcycle Adventure Club are usually in town, and they're good for a laugh!

Good stuff lots of options comming in ,
Keep them comming and we can make a decision in a week or 10 days , this will give people time to make arrangments.

This picture from post above is a fantastic view - I have a similar picture I took years ago as my desktop on my computer. I also stay in the wee cottage on the sea side just at the bottom of the bendy hill sometimes.
Great place well worth a visit... as is the pub at the far end of the beech.

Only checked out this page now after a several months. Got married and all. So we have decided a camping weekend in Ireland! Great. So where to go? As a non-Irish I have to say that Kerry sounds like a winner, views are unbelievable. Mind you, it can be a bit crowded in August. In May weather might be pretty nice already if lucky.

Unfortunately I have precious little camping experience here and don't even know of any campsites. Only place I have been was in Achill Island (great campsite by the sea).

Dates: July is out for me, but apart from this anytime is fine.

Ok chaps, as an alternative take a look at this.. http://www.xrv.org.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1270. The routes are checked out, the campsites are sorted, (although final numbers will be needed) and the dates + costs are known. Take a look...

We didn't want to steal anyones thunder on this, but just wanted something to plan around..

Going out from Holyhead on the 3pm sailing to Dublin on Friday the 27th. Coming back on Sunday the 5th, so if there's anyone in Dublin on the Saturday evening that wants to meet for a pint, let me know.

Yep, 28th July start!

We (xrv_jim & fewtrees) are working on a few other trips that fit into long weekends (Fri eve/Sat/Sun) and will have those posted up fairly soon. Some of these are likely to include small stretches of green lane (fully researched of course ;-) and these will be trips we've either done or are about to so hopefully over the summer we can have a good few rides out yet!
