Ooh ooh, got to tell someone or I'll burst. Just got in from a "fun" enduro on my DR350 (complete with number plate and indicators). There were about 20 bikes in total and two of the riders I've been being overtaken by all day were James Toseland and Chris Walker. I know bugger all about bike racing but I'm told they're famous. Of course I could've kicked their arses but one doesn't like to make them lose confidence.
The best bit of the day was watching all the cars trying to get out of the field up the only hill in Essex, which was slippery to say the least. But Strange Dave on his road tyred XRV750 romped up the thing with style and panache.

Well I had Monday off to recover and then promptly had my first ever road accident in 22 years on the way to work this morning.
Hit by a car changing lanes in slow moving traffic on a dual carriageway. I managed to stay on but apparently all my witnesses thought I was gonna hit the deck. Within seconds of stopping a man ran back from his car with a card (IAM bike instructor) shouting "I'm ex Old Bill as well" and a van stopped and started giving me their addresses.
The lady in the car that hit me wanted to know why everyone was giving me their details and avoiding her gaze. Her front offside wing was peeled back like a banana, I could see bits of her engine and there were scrapes down the front door. My bike was untouched apart from her paint on my crashbar. Her torn wing had cut my secondhand dutch army goretex trousers (£24 bargain) open but I was undamaged. She said it was her first time as well..... And I still got to work on time!
Sorry to hear about your ding and great that nobody was hurt. That car paint on crashbars just adds some extra street-cred for your bike.
Good god how many bikes can take on a car and win?

Pretty good advert for a set of robust crash bars....

Yes it's a shame I can't remeber who makes them. I think it might be Mo-check or some similar sounding name. I'm glad they're tough cos I haven't dropped the bike yet so haven't had a chance to test them.

As long as you're OK Yen...that's the main thing.

I quite agree. Where would you all be without my advice on waving etc. It could be worse, I might have had to eat a bowl of testicles afterwards like poor old Obi Wan

Perhaps they'd misinterpreted the Gay wave and were trying to ram you up the ass Yen!

I have some black "failed to indicate" Alpha Romeo paint on my bashplate, and some red "No. 43 london bus" on the crashbars & jacket.
Separate incidents, neither resulting in a fall (its actually hard to "fall" when wedged between a double decker bus & a "red route patrol" car  )

This is the result of taking on a tractor... ...should have had the crash bars fitted!

Glad to hear you escaped unscathed. Could have been much much worse.
Couple of people at work have been trashed pretty badly in motorcycle accidents recently and both are very experienced as well.
I'm still waiting for my first crash!

I hope you touched wood after saying that.
Just had a proper look in my garage after getting in from work and noticed a small crack in the side panel that bolts under the fairing, but nothing I'm particularly worried about as being a black bike it doesn't show. The picture above is horrible, except it is much shinier than mine.

Don't get excited, a crushed ankle broken in five places/'out cold' concussion followed by 2 weeks of unexpected intermitent puke-ing/ripped ligaments/total of 5 months in plaster isn't fun.
BUT....when you get away with ripped leather around your Frank Thomas knee armour and ride away leaving a mashed Micra wing and headlight - and it's her fault - now THAT'S fun.
Mr Woolley, please elaborate on how you failed to overtake a tractor?
I'm sure a beautiful BLACK & SILVER Tranny with a noisy exhaust would have faired better.
Just praise The Almnighty he didn't have one of those hay-bale spikes on.

Er, I thought I'd posted about this particular mishap before  but I can't find the thread so here's the short version. On my way to spend the weekend with a mate I rode past the entrance to a car boot sale. An old codger decided to pull out in front of me  so I hit the brakes and managed to swerve around the front of his car.... only to find a tractor and trailer in my path! Realising that another change in direction wasn't on the cards, I pulled the rip cord and baled out. The bike ran into the trailer at about 15mph and ended up wedged under the axle. Needless to say, that was the end of my first Africa Twin.

You were indeed lucky thank god :!:
Oh all this happened on a zxr750h1 after I was clipped from the rear by another bike nice eh :? That will teach me to go on the sick with a bad back
