View Full Version : Santy Worm
You may be aware of the Santy worm that shags phpBB forum sites of which their are over 1 million.
We are one of those! Although the major threat has now passed I suspect.
So I will be patching the forum over the next few days. This may of course break the forum! So please bear with me while I fix things if you see the forums aren't working.
Forums now patched to the latest version. However it has rather predictably knackered a few things.
Most notably the spell checker and the email digest.
I'll set about fixing them now but they make take a few days.
If you experience any other problems please post here or mail me at admin@xrv.org.uk thanks.
Cheers
Dave.
I even think I've surpassed myself and fixed the email digest.
Time will tell I suppose.
Let me know if you have any problems anywhere.
Off for some more alcohol now as I'm getting withdrawal symptoms. Damn I love Christmas.

Not sure the picture upload facility is working at the mo. Would that have been a casualty of the recent patch?

Google has stopped it going through them....now I hear it's going through Yahoo and AOL.

Hmmm yes you're right.
Shouldn't be affected but clearly not working.
Just going out will sort it out when I get back.
It seems that my web hosts have also upgraded PHP as well without telling me. In doing so they have set-up PHP differently and in a more secure state but it means that the picture upload facility is broken until I find out how to recode round it.
I'm working on it but I don't think it will be a quick fix.
Well FFS! I really was shafted with that change.
I've virtually had to rewrite the entire pictures script it was all terminally broken.
I think its now working now and I've fixed a bug that I found as well.
I've found a few more bugs and one thing I do need to fix is the fact that the number of pages are shooting up too much.
So I'll probably get on to that in a minute. In the meanwhile if you can test away and let me know if you get any problems.
