Today I took the opportunity to remove and grease the caliper pins on my AT for the first time. Given all the tales of seized pins and pin 'plugs' I was expecting a long, protracted job.
Not so. All cleaned, greased and replaced inside 20 minutes. Feeling lucky! :headbang:
Do mine every 6 months with copper grease its a real easy job and worth its weight in gold :cheers:

You're right! It's the first time I've done mine since I got the bike earlier this year, I'll be doing mine on a regular basis from now on. :compress:
Perhaps I should be add 'clean and grease the brake pad pins' to the service sheets in the Tech Data section as a specific item at 4,000 miles? What do you think? Does the TA have the same braking arrangement?
Yep I think that's an excellent idea.
Its the little jobs that count it's like oil changes I do mine every 2000 to 3000 miles dealers reccomend that this is not required because of the quality of synthetic oils today but the way I look at it is if anything go's wrong its not due to negligence and oil is such a critical part of the motor!
I also grease all bolts with copper slip that are removed ect! Wd40 all external switchs fortnightly to save on damp damage. I grease the caliper pins every 6 months you would be amazed at the crap they collect and once thoses little screw heads go it can be a real ball ache! change brake fluid every 12 months grease bleed nipples ect again an easy job.
The amount of mates that turned little service jobs into nightmares for the sake of an hour here and there is phenominal :cyclopsani:
I do this because I learned the hard way with an z650 the rear caliper seized while out and I got stranded with a seized brake took some serious hammering to get it off!
Remember the japs didnt count british winters when they wrote out the service sheet and salt is a real killer :flower:
