View Full Version : hoofin great barge
Damn I wasnt ready for the amount of wind resistance A T put up gettin blown around like nobodys business reckon I will be gettin me some diveing weights to keeep me on the ground :happy6:
With big winds the AT can be a handfull i agree. But i drove a ZXR750 in the past and that was terrible too. caught a lot of wind on the sides. Being high up on a twin makes it feel bad but the wide handlebar makes it controlable in my opinion.
Oh yes the zxr 750 gpz 750 gpz900 infact kawasakis in general I reckon kawasaki do it on purpose and I aint gonna mention that 16 inch front wheel! Worst ever though was an ns125f when I was a newbie got thrown across the road on a bridge near a place called chirk that was scary :clown:
My brother rides a Kawa ZX12R Ninja (tuned) and that is not so effeted by wind. But Kawa did spend some time making it aerodinamic. His ZX9 before that was a handful too.
Went out the other day with the touratech boxs on in the wind, felt like a square rigger in a bad storm. What you might call a "challenge" :naka:

Went over the Severn Bridge last year with all the boxes on, the bike felt like it would go round Cape Horn better than cross that bridge. :pottytrain5:

On the other hand, travelling across the Severn Bridge by bike is for free... And with all the cases on, you can bring along as much as any car...
But, yes, the wind is the major factor in determining where you go... :help:
Cheers,
T.
And with the new severn bridge which I assume you're all talking about, do you find that as you pass by the big pillars it affects you as much as the wind?
As you're leaning to counter the wind you then pass a pillar and lurch the other way.
Ahh what fun.

The problem I find, when crossing the severn bridge is the expansion plates .. hit these at 80mph, with a nice sidewind, and you slide 3 - 4 feet to the side... very much a brown trouser moment.
Non noticed any problem with wind over the new bridge.. even possible to find a nice guy at the tolls who will open the barrier and let you through without making you stop first.
