Ive got a roof on my head !!

Hi all
Im hoping someone can help in a matter concerning my new helmet.
I have just boughta roof daytona helmet, which according to accounts is supposed to be very quiet and comes with a anti mist visor. Great in the winter. However now having used it for two days I have found that the visor doesnt steam up but instead has a film of water on the inside of the visor. This make visibilty nearly impossible with everything looking dazzled and blurred ( bit like looking through the bottom of a pint glass!!!!) Has anyone experienced anything similar or is there any way of clearing it. I find it happens even with the visor open slightly. :scratch:

Crikey that sounds just plain dangerous.

I have an Aria Quantum F with a Fog City fitted. I swear by these I have never ever got misted up.

Wow only ever had that happen cos the rain ran down the inside of the visor :dontknow:
Have a craft rx lid now and its the best helmet I have ever owned keeps the draught off your neck and everything :cheers:

A few years ago I bought a Roof Helmet at a show, it was a pile of crap. The flipup visor scratched the top of the helmet, sent the thing back.

As for anti fog I use washing up liquid, it lasts two to three days. My screen tends to blow the rain down the inside of the visor if it is slightly open.

Hi guys Promised to report back re the dangerous visor. The shop replaced the visor mumbling about this never happening before and all that tosh!!! any way the new visor appears to do the trick. There is no steaming at all. we will just have to wait and see how it handles in minus temps in the pissing rain ( or is it snow) Any way thanks for the comments. :cheers:

While we're on the subject of foggy visors - the minute i close my shoei xr900 visor it fogs up! they're terrible!

Hi guys I promised to report back. The Roof helmet is offically class. What no steaming visor I hear you cry. Well actually it does or at least did until this morning when I bounced it off the road after trying to ride to work in the snow. The belly pan has taken a bit of a knock ( nothing the hammer and metal polisher wont fix and the rear foot peg is not quite straight but the nice new steamy visored helmet is toast. Looks like the Aria Quantuim for me. :blackeye: :shaking:

At least the helmet worked.

Although the Arai's are very expensive I am totally sold on them. They are worth every penny in my opinion. I use mine every single day to ride to work and the quality is just fantastic. Before I used to get through a helmet every year or so, the Arais last me about 3 to 4 years, and even then aren't really past it.... I just normally fancy a change. :)

Thanks for the thoughts Dave. Yes as you rightly guessed Im ok. right hip and shoulder may be a bit stiff tomorrow but Im well. I was lucky , the ground broke my fall. Lets have a competition to see how quickly people use helmets !!! How much do you bet there is someone out there who has trashed a helmet quicker. :cheese:

I had a new arai lid a few years ago, got the helmet home, and went into the garage, put helmet on the floor (in its box), whilst messing with the bike sometime later, I ended up dropping the bike.... onto the new helmet.

Felt such a plonker, especially when I went back to the shop to buy another !!! ..

Worst part was actually taking the lid back to the place I bought it from and telling the bloke "There's something wrong with it".... when I took it out of the crumpled box, the sales guy p155ed himself laughing.. called his mate over who took one look at the punctured, crushed lid (there had been 190 ish kg of VTR1000 sat on it earlier that day) and stood still, exclaimed how the f00k did you manage that one ? (remember, there were no abrasions or signs it had been down the road)

It was just like someone had taken a sledge hammer to the lid !!!

Total bill was something like £590 ish

They even gave me 10% off the second helmet as I was a "Good" customer :geek: :geek: :geek:

I now use a "Cheaper" Nolan N100 flip
