Cheers Banger. :)
There's still a few of them around, but I think most are tucked up in garages waiting on an engine rebuild. ;)
It's a 350 Fat Bloke. If the single disk is throwing you it's a TZR250 disk and 4 pot calliper. Much better than the original set up.
I had a 250LC and a 350YPVS and they were both awesome bikes.
The handling was fantastic, although perhaps time clouds the mind!?
I just remember them both feeling so planted when cornering, like they were on rails.
Oh and I also remember rebuilding them quite often as well. I got quite good at it in the end.

Equity red star wanted 600 quid for the salvage. She needed forks and radiator and I needed to be back on the road. They offered me 2,000 so I took the money and bought the AT.
We're too far from a track for it to be worth keeping the cb as a toy plus I fancied a change. Him in the shed was more upset than me when they wrote her off. He definitely had a race bike in the back of his mind.
On the upside I crashed on the 22nd dec and had the cheque by 14th jan. They gave me 2000 for a 1999 bike which was used daily for commuting so top marks to equity for good service.

Ideally but I'm not going to get too hung up on 100K. I'm just thinking of those poor old dial-up users where it would take 30 minutes or so to display this page if we had loads of large images.
You lot don't know you're born anyway as when I'm desgning pages for our Intranet some entire pages with all the bits included can be no bigger than 30Kb. Cue Mr Woolley now about to tell me that he writes a whole C program in 2Kb or something.

These pictures were shot after we went sailing in the weekend. There is some distance between where the boats are and where you have to pick up the peddles. This was the only way to transport them since my girlfriend came along.
The cop that I passed, did not even react. All car drivers were flabbergasted I think. They could not stop looking.
Greetings,
Dampkring

Welcome Dampkring...... I was trying to think of something witty to say seeing the paddles on the bike, but I've given up trying.
Dave the paddles are for smacking cyclists up the arse 8)
You can get 2 in one go
They are for more downforce on the back wheel. To keep the enormous power of a AT on the road. Its using paddles or lengthening your swingarm to do that :D

Just kidding, I may get one, depends on whether Buster's get their finger out and get me a bigger screen (they sent one for an RD07) I've got an RD03 and the screen's only 8" tall (the stickers are 12" tall).

Here is my 98 machine, sans centrestand and one bar endweight...
What it does have however is a Remus Grans Prix exhaust, Powerbronze smoked flip up screen, and a nifty home made scottoiler(steel cylinder, spring loaded piston, 2 valves and a tube, and it works).

Greetings from Canuckistan. Following pic is of my '99 RD07. Paint scheme appears to be a '98 but the origonal title from Germany tells me its a '99.
Yes, a German riders misfortunate crash in NW British Columbia is how I aquired this bike. He was ok, and it must have been hard for him to abandon his bike to the lodge owner, but i can assure you it went to a good home. After sourcing parts from ebay.uk, ebay.de and African Queens it was ready to roll. I matched the metalic green from a '77 Ford.
The nice people at the Alberta vehicle registries slipped it in. Go figure.
I really..really enjoy riding this bike and it tends to get a lot of attention wherever i go with it. With my other ride being A '93 gspd I am literally torn apart as to which bike i favour most.

Will use one of Simon's wire headlamp guards rather than the TT plastic job's. The plastic guard diffused the light from the headlamp and reduced it's efficiency. I think the wire guard will look better as well.

I used Cavemans crashbars on the latest one. They're lighter weight and slightly cheaper. Since this picture was taken I've fitted the GPS (Garmin V) I'm still debating as to which 'can' to get but, it will be either Remus or Laser Pro-Duro. Likewise, I haven't made my mind up which panniers to fit but, will buy another set of TT's or Metal Mule. I've ordered a standard black screen and Simons headlamp guard will finish the bike of nicely. LB.

In early Sept I went for a couple of days playing about around the ridgway near didcot.
We found the ridgeway a bit boring unless flatout bumps is your thing (not good with dog walkers or suspension) or tyre wreking gravel so we found some interesting wooded bits and of course some Mud.
My bike did ok with well worn Trailwings, my brother had nobbles on his GS1150 and well I didn't skid off down a muddy woodland track.

Well the idea had been to use it for the winter and save the @ but thats not happening yet cause of a long story about my insurance, in that my present policy won't allow more than one bike so i have to wait until february when it runs out to get the C90 sorted. I think it will be my winter project as it needs tidied a bit. As soon as there is snow though i'll have it out and sliding up and down the street.
This is my 1991 Africa Twin RD04 with Anna my wife who absolutely loves bikes !!! ( strange girl ) she is doing her direct access at present and then wants a 650 BMW GS. This is my first big trail bike before i allways had sports bikes Fireblade, R1 and last bike was a Ducati 996. Used to race bikes for years and ended up with a National licence, too old for that now!!
I love the Africa Twin great fun and typical Honda superb quality. I have a Honda Prelude car which is also great.

Hey Simon, like the Chicken Chaser!
Am after one for dossing around the fields, but I reckon they're getting a bit collectable - prices for old bangers seem extortionate.
All you need now is one of those big windscreens!
Simon get a clipboard and you could do the knowledge - if you were in London!
It came with the front bit for holding the screen but no screen and it also has the rear rack and top box. It cost me £250 and still has MOT on it. It is brilliant craic. I have been doing wheelies up my street on it since a friend told me how to on them. I tried doing a burn out but it is so light that it just moves the whole bike along even with the front wheel locked!
There is a place across the road from me known as the Lead Mines, which you'll never guess, used to be lead mines! They are used by trials bikes big time and i think i'll take the 90 up there to play about. While trying to find a 90 i noticed that they actually made a trail version years ago. Might get a real scraper and make it a trail version.
Here's a picture of my AT. Even though is "away for the winter" i just can't stop riding it. Usually gets a ride at the weekend now and even found an excuse to take it over the Kawasaki this morning! I know i'll regret it as soon as i start seeing the corrosion!

Excellent job Chad. I'm now officially green with envy! Bet you wont be taking it on the Plain again.
Where did you get the Dakar decal for your touring screen? And how much would you say, in total, did it cost to completely renovate the bike (excluding all the labour you put in)?
dakar was probably around 8or9 sovs the whole decal set cost me £60
by morgan designs ive put it in the links
paint was done by a mate cost £160
end can was about £170 gforce also in the links
i already had the powerbronze screen but the headlight protector was £20 with post again in the links
tyres from busters £108
powdercoating was £55
progrips£12
paint for the handlebars £10
full set calliper seals £33
headrace bearings honda i think where £45 cant find receipt
i already had the seat but that did cost £235
total£908
but if you take off things like tyres seals bearings etc because you would end up doing them any way its not that bad at £427
mind you though still got my luggage to come from caveman yet that was just under £600 ive had my xmas pressies for the next five yrs
i did save hard for a while to do this and im pleased with the results :D
Richie B
30-12-05, 10:16 AM
Nice. Might start saving for next year. Perhaps if I be good and write enough letters to Santa he'll be good to me.
My only concern is that I find 'one spanner' difficulty rating tasks in the Haynes manual quite a chore. I may have to enrol in some motorcycle maintenance classes :D
if its just things like body work and bolt on bits its easy any thing else just take plenty of time dont put yourself under pressure. i found when a certain thing was proving to be a problem i just made a coffee or popped a beer sat down and stared it into submission
no really just walk away come back a bit later and you seem to solve it
if you've got plenty of time you will enjoy it more.
go for it mate you wont regret it. and its nice to have somthing that little bit different :D
Looks good Chad and that blue's gorgeous, congrats!

It occurs to me that a lot of the bikes on here are heavily modified like Chad's bike. Is it a well known thing for @ owners to customise their bikes?
With hindsight (20:20 vision!) it was a mistake, buuuuuuuut I had a great couple of hours out and found that the AT's a really well balanced bike. It was difficult on the ice and snow, but do-able with far fewer "Oh SH*T moments than I'd expected.
And it really was a beautiful winters day!
Cheers

Beautiful bike!

My advice would be to get some angine bars on it as soon as you can :)
MIne looked like that when I bought it a month ago, then I rode it in the rain, and dropped it on Salisbury Plain!
That's the thing about this bike, I doubt that it'll ever be taken off road whilst I have it (which will be until either it falls apart or I fall apart, whichever comes first  ). I seriously intend to make this a good and proper street machine. I intend to put Excel SuperMotos on it in the near future, along with a load of stuff from Shiny-Bits and even a custom spray job (ala Streetfighters)!
My advice would be to get some angine bars on it as soon as you can :)

Ahh now that's a shame mate.
The fun we have off-road is awesome.
You'll love it.
I look at it this way, once I get the SuperMotos on there I don't think the bike will be capable of going off road anyway. Besides, the roads in Exeter are so bad (they're full of bomb craters!) that taking the bike around town is akin taking the bike off road anyway! Yep, this bike will be well and truly cared for and loved.

Thanks guys,
she does have a rare colour on her! Its the original paint work (1993). I checked and she's not an import. She is Definitely a girl isn't she?! No boy would wear that colour. :D
1993, you say? Strange, 'cause it looks like a newer model than that. From the design of the plastics and the decals it looks more like a late 90's RD07. :?:

Yeah....I kind of suspected that. Pitty. I think shiny or stainless/ alu looks better than black or white on many bikes. And there is something about the angels in the front that suits the fairing better than many other crash bars......
Anyone want to sell?

I reckon that's one of the sweetest @T's I've ever seen. I just love those colours! I know some folk think they're a bit garish, one Kawasaki driver said looked like a white bike driving by that someone threw tins of paint at!
Personally I think if you've got something as beautiful and as special as an @T it should stand out!

Yep, protection from the weather is about the same but, they also offer some protection to the levers in a fall. The hanguards are Acerbis (about £50 from Touratech) and I got the stickers from a graphics company on ebay for about £5 a set (searched on 'Honda stickers') I needed two sets, on in red and one in white. I put one of the stickers on the panniers and got it wrong and it was a right ba....d to get off again.

No offence taken, it just takes me forever to photo's on. Ive tried sticking them onto one post but, it doesn't happen.
Ahh, I have a technique here. Try copying the address of the pic, then, whilst using Word (you have got Word, haven't you?) stick the individual address' onto the Word page. Then make your post by copying and pasting the address' from Word onto your post. I hope that all made sense. It is a lot more easy than I make it sound though. :)
LaughingBob
06-02-06, 07:54 PM
Streuth! Yep makes sense but what a pullover  I'll give it a go, thanks for the info
Sure thing, anytime. You can even keep Word going whilst you're making your post, so all you have to do is click on Word's icon on the tool bar at the bottom of the screen to bring the page up, then highlight the page address you want, click Copy, then click on the Web page behind to carry on with your post and paste the address right where you want it! Simps, aye? :D

As long as you don't mind swapping out the yokes, front wheel, wheel spindle, and brakes from the KTM as well, it should just be a case of getting the KTM yokes machined to accept the AT steering stem...
Jim Rowley
12-02-06, 05:14 PM
I had to machine the CR stem to accept the bearings from the AT steering head. After that, everything fell into place. I also have a whole front end from a KTM but I thought I would keep it all in the same family. I have a GS with a CR front end. It would have been wrong to put a KTM front end on a Honda.

Hi XRVTUUR, could you tell us a bit more about the trailer. Does it affect the handling etc. Thanks[/quote]
hi,
it affect the handeling on very low speed but you can do easy 130kmph without any problem. this trailer weighs 37 kg and you can load it with 50 kg, if you do it affect the braking a little bit but you get used to that. it cost me about 1200 euro for the trailer and another 500 for the hook, happy holi :D days
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/xrvtuur/ATmetkar50.jpg
I could never tow anything on the back of my bike, 'cause I'm all too used to tossing my bike around. In effect, I'd end up shooting round some corner and the trailer would swing around taking a load of peds out on the pavement!
