Its getting that bad when your rideing down the road you have to think about hitting a patch of SALT! or going for the ice :dontknow:

Ive been poking around the bike today, and have taken a lot of the plastics off, tracing the wiring etc. I cannot believe the ammount of rust I am seeing ... on joints and poor welds.
My Bike is 13 months old (7,000 miles) ... and, Ive done most of the mileage so far. The bike has got wet, but its not seen that much salt... it is always washed and dried and oiled.

Now what have I told you lot about washing bikes. It promotes rust. You've only yourself to blame.....

Think a dog raised its leg on mine once thats the closest its ever come to being washed :cyclopsani:
Bought myself some stainless allen bolts to replace the cheese thats left on the bike thats if they dont melt when I try and get em off :geek:

Anyone know if they do a probolt kit for the AT?

I might borrow a digital camera and take a few close up pics of my unwashed heavily used AT to show the corrosion. Wonder how it will compare with a bike that's washed regularly with a high mileage or a bike thats hardly washed with a low mileage. Does the latter exist?

When I rebuilt my engine, the front half of the frame was resprayed, as well as the mounting bars for the headlights and clocks.

Mr hONDA your paint is poo so are your gears :angry4: eat :spam1:

By the time I took my bike for the first proper service (4k miles?) the front downtube was visibly rusting. Not the sort of build quality that I had come to expect from Mr Honda. In the past my other Hondas have had a pretty good finish.

Went out on Sunday and I could almost ride the burm of roadsalt around bends. Makes me shudder to think how fast my bike is being eaten away...

My 2003 bike has not reached 7000 miles.

my 2001 has either 10'500 miles/km not sure a mixture of both more than likely and from the odd chip and wear its pretty much ok. think i landed a bargain even if it is an import. one thing that does do my head in though is the indicators "ticking" when they are on but hey you cant have everything can you

Ahh yes. I use the "I must have it for travelling to work" argument.
It helps tremendously.
The purse is rarely closed for such a necessity. :)
