I have been told that this makes a huge difference to the overall performance.
Matt
Sorry to shatter your dreams, but don't expect much of a difference. The sub-chamber under the swing-arm does a lot of the silencing, even losing that makes little difference.
Didn't even know Micron did a pipe for the 650.

Last time I searched, I could only find exhausts from :
BSM (from david silver)
Remus (from just about anywhere)
Leo Vince (do I need to say how s**t they are ?)
Sebring (don't know of an importer)
and now Staintune do 'em.

Tikka, the older 600 pipes are not compatible with the newer 650

From what I have seen so far the StayInTune is the only system that has been properly engineered and tuned.
Others seem to be simply adapting their standard silencer with fixing for each bike.
Unless the standard system is really poorly engineered/tuned to the engine you are unlikely to get much power/torque difference with a new one.
There is never a cheap/simple answer for more power - no substitute for cubic inches in the end !
Noise level is not a reliable indicator of performance ....

The Staintune pipe does add 5hp, but that's an amount not really noticeable. What you will notice is that it fits right out of the box, sounds good without being noisy and will polish easily without corroding.
Yes, I have one, pleased as punch.
The subchamber is next to go once I've fabricated a new pipe in the next month, then a Unifilter replacement airfilter element.
Wait 'til you see the price of the genuine Honda airfilter element. The Unifilter lasts forever at half the price of genuine.
The Staintune will last the life of the bike too.

I'll second that.
Have just fitted a Leo Vince X3 to my TA 650 04. Noted comments on the forum that the Leo Vince can not good quality. Most of my riding is dry but the can certainly looks well. Certainly feel it sets the bike off better and being road legal will cause no hassle. Bought it from a guy I know who traded in his TA after 800 miles. Trades his bikes generally Honda or BMW every two to three months. Purchase price very reasonable and sounds slightly better. Did wonder though any thoughts out there on whether any fuelling problems may arise or need attention.

Didn't really notice any fueling problems from just changeing the silencer on mine (It always ran rich :bom: )
Thanks wheeliebin for your comment. Still having condensation coming form where the pipe connects to the ta but it does not appear to be blowing out.
Thanks again

I've had my Transalp 650 for 4 years now, done 33,000 miles and the silencer has just started blowing, I've found a company called Viper, they are just staring to do a stainless job for £211 with the VAT.
Not ordered one yet, but I have asked if they are making a connecter pipe to bin the cataclismic convertor box.
The site URL is http://www.venomexhausts.com/MainPage.htm
Be interesting to see...
Cheers

hey just bought a 1996 transalp and im looking at getting riid of he ugly can/shotgun thing at the end of the bike
was lookin at an arrow can any opinions/bad stories about them???
Laser used to do an exhaust for the old 600 , but when I asked about a system for the 650 , the response was "Unfortunately we don't have an exhaust available for the XL650V. I'm sorry but there are no plans to develop one. We have not enough demand for this bike." ( direct from laser exhausts in Holland ) .
Their old one for the 600 was rather nice , so how about pushing them for one for the 650 ? Begging letters to : gdejongh@laserexhausts.com , or contact them through their web site . I reckon the demand would be there.
